The Indispensible Next Step To Finding Your Perfect Business

She was a little startled by seeing the Cheshire Cat sitting on a bough in a tree a few yards off.  The Cat only grinned when it saw Alice.

“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”

“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.

“I don’t much care where,” said Alice

“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat

Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

You might be surprised (and perhaps a bit relieved) to know that many, if not most, people never really ponder the depths of what they truly want in any substantive way.

You may have a general idea of what you want your perfect business to deliver.  But do you have that crystal clear vision and really know exactly what you want?  Does your vision have all the sensory vividness of reality?  In your mind’s eye, can you experience having it right now?

Keep in mind, that if you cannot see it clearly in your mind, you cannot have it in your experience.

In this video I give you a super-fun exercise which ‘tricks-out’ the subconscious saboteurs that keep you from having that crystal clear vision of what you want.

I hope you enjoy watching this video as much as I enjoyed making it.

I am anxious to hear what you want. Watch the video, do the exercise and come back and share your experience.

I’m standing for all that is possible for you in life and business.

Sincerely,

Steve

  2. Hi Steve,CRAIG here.  I have done the statement of intention for fitness and health and it was amazing.  I have stated that I am drinking less EtOH, I am in better shape for another Everest trek,  and I am RIPPED!Thanks Steve.  I will finish the others now.

  3. I did the exercise solo, but I learned a lot.  I made a point to be specific about my dream  house, car, community services, locations I’ve travelled to, group gatherings.   I will continuously practice speaking in the affirmative.

  4. Hi all,

I saw the first few comments and wanted to make sure I was not confusing people.  While it can be fun to do this exercise with a group, it is every bit as effective when done alone.

You can even do it alone once and then with a group a 2nd time.

Thank you all for your comments.

    Steve

  5. I wanted to let you know that seperating the financial from other aspects of succes was very insiteful.  I noticed that I have attached financial goals to many of the things that I want to accomplish or aquire.  I am really curious to see if seperating these out will begin to create the movement I have been looking for.  It certainly simplifies things.  Thank your for your time and effort in all of this.

  6. An excellent exercise to start the mind flowing toward describing a set of goals. I look forward to followup techniques that can help refine them

  7. Hi Steve,I really like your clear presentation style! You’re an excellent teacher. It really helps to see what everyone else wrote down on their post it notes, because it opens up possibilities for you. “Oh, they want that?…I didn’t know you could ask for that!…I didn’t know I could have that!…I want that too!” Doing it in a group is very powerful, because when you see others giving themselves permission to want things that you’ve not allowed yourself to want because you believe ”it’s impossible, especially for someone like me” or ”it’s selfish to want so much”. It changes your thinking…”well, maybe it would be alright for me to have the thing I REALLY want” and not just this thing I said I wanted because I was settling for less, setting for what I thought I could have.Thank you!Aloha,Eleanore

  8. This was and interesting exercise.  I have written down goals before but this seemed to flow easier by writing them on sticky notes first.  I was afraid to write one business intent down because it seems so big but I did it anyway.  I wasn’t able to write anything down in my weakest area.  I’ll try again later.  Thank you.

  9. That was fun. I am working at remaining positive rather than comparing what I have now. I did this solo so it was a self exercise.

  10. What you are talking about, Steve, is the power of intention, which is the premise of the book and movie “The Secret,” and what Ernest Holmes wrote about in his book “Science of Mind.” Change your life, change your mind, and keep it changed. It works!

  11. Hi Steve, this was an interesting exercise. The message that I am getting is that my wants and goals are all related to each other and that I must take action to make them happen.

  14. Thanks, Steve.  I suspect this exercise will be worth returning to.  Clarification is an ongoing process.  What I want today isn’t necessarily what I want tomorrow.

  15. The incredible thing to me is that I had several overlapping items showing up in several categories.  Very interesting.  And even more interesting to me is that the things I seem to crave the most have absolutely nothing to do with money, although when I started the exercise, that is what I “thought” I wanted most.  hmmmm….

Posted By: Vickie | 9:33 am
  16. Hi Steve, we did the first category of finance. We belong to the Science of Mind church and this is PURE Science of Mind thinking which is so COOL and reinforcing! Can’t wait to continue on. Thanks so much for this free advice/mentoring. I (Sandy) am embarking on a new business venture and this is exactly what I am needing. Namaste. Sandy and Phil

  17. Hi Steve,
I enjoyed the scope of this exercise.  It helped me to see my life as a whole and realize how many things that I want overlap and build on each other.  I have one question, I hope to earn more money as a fine artist so that I can work full time doing that.  I separated that out in my intentions – gave the income I would like as one intention, and working full time as a painter as another intention.  I keep wanting to link the two out of fear of that I will need to stay in a job I don’t like to make money.  Do I allow more possibilities by separating the intentions?
I am really enjoying these videos.

  18. Hi Steve,I did this solo. I have written down my goals before but never in seperate categories. I was not to surprised with my results.  It did get my mind flowing better than the way I have written goals down in the past. I read the Power of Intention by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer in 2004. This reminded me of that book. I can’t wait to see what you have next for us.Sincerely,Sharon

  19. Another Great Excercise I have been changing my thinking for several months due to opportunities taken and these are really allowing me to break down the areas and give each one their seperate attention, therefore moving money into its own area  and allowing personal growth to take place in the other areas, know that the money was already addressed .

  20. i did this exercise alone – my son and my man are 2500 km away right now. i got my cards, mix them, and i put them in my purse. every time i have a minute i get them out and i read them and mix them again. i admit reading them puts me in a right mood. ( i wrote on every card, in front of the sentence “i am grateful for having ….” this part i heard somewhere else. i remember, few years ago, the moment i felt strong feeling of gratitude for what i had,  that was the moment that my life changed for better. )

  21. Hi Steve, in your blog on “Relevant Options” you mention a book we can download on this topic which we can read, yet i dont’ seem to be able to see the link anywhere.  Can you give me an idea where this link is?  Many thanks!Hey, i really want to share with everyone who reads these messages, that i have seen an unfolding of exceptional energy and excitment from working through your system.  It is easy to digest and simple to execute, which feels to me like the ideal situation to breathe life into new experiences… keep it simple, stay on track and remain energised; you are supporting the exact nature of the new business we are creating, by being a wonderful example.  THANKS so very much.

  23. Finances are big. (have not finished all the categories) I am a little skepticle writng affirmation… I think the grattitude comment above, is good.  If you keep affirming what you don’t have as if you do, your mind will twist it.  Better to acknowledge where you are and where you are going,  making realistic comparisons….

  28. I have usually felt if the money was there the rest would show up but clarifying what the rest is really helped.  One thing that has always been bothering to me is the comparison of myintention to my current reality and the doubt that always raised.  There is a technique for releasing that doubt and it is found at Gary Craig’s website http://www.emofree.com and it has many free offerings to eliminate these blockages.  Thanks for the exercise of separating these areas of one’s life.

  30. Thanks Steve, I don’t even know how I ended up hooking up with you! How’s that for unconscious intent?  I have been trying to address my time management issues and somehow I got here….and since I know “life” always shows me what I need to see I’m paying attention! I did half of the exercises and am going to finish the rest tomorrow…I can see that, like many others, I haven’t set my own course really. I am ready to do that and I have a sneaky suspician you are here to help me! Good! If I don’t have a clear picture of my desires how could I ever hope to acquire them? I will give more time to these exercises to reveal to myself my “real” heart’s desires. Nice!!

  31. Hi Steve,     Hello and how are you?  I completed the task.  I would say the hardest decision was how much a year to make.  With more finances comes more responsibility.  Physical Fitness was easy I want to bench more.  I conducted this with my household.  My other family members wanted to make more money.  I thought this was a fun exercise because you find out what it is that others in your household truely want. Thanks,Damon

  32. Dear Steve, I regularly do positive affirmations but I think the biggest “aha” moment for me was when you clarified that in creating our affirmations we should be careful to not drag in the past or current circumstance into it.  It was eye-opening for me to discover how certain affirmations which, on the surface, appear positive may actually not be.  Thanks, Michele

Posted By: MicheleC | 1:52 pm
  33. Wow, that was great.  It really helped me to find my inner motivation and clarified what I am after.  The whole reason I want money is to have freedom.  The freedom to spend time voluteering, traveling, attending seminars and confrences to advance my knoweledge and understanding.  A home, paid for so I don’t have to worry about bills.  A new car, new cars are more dependable than what I drive.(freedom from worry that the car will break down)  It came across as a very solid theme.  Really clarified my base intentions.  Thanks so much!

  36. Loved your enthusiasm in explaining this exercise! I just worked on it very quickly alone and it certainly clairfies my intentions and makes me put statements down that will enforce action. I am excited to start my biz idea but am holding myself back to complete my research and courses first. I want to be fully informed and not re-acting to just my own enthusiasm.

  37. Steve, really appreciated your comments about the Bentley and finding out that it was not what you wanted.  Breaking down the categories and the intentions certainly made it clear as to what was necessary for us to do if we wanted the changes to take place.I want to do this again in a few days when I have had the chance to digest the information.  Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.  You are a Great Teacher.

  39. Hi Steve,My husband and I did most of this process tonight. We’re read to integrate our individual answers and will do that when we aren’t so tired. The exercise really helped us each to reclarify our vision and goals. It’s easy to lose focus over time when you don’t purposefully review once in awhile. This process has put us back on track and in alignment with each other. We work independently out of our home. Although we are together most of the time, we are focused on different projects. My husband is a software programmer, so his mind is buried in the computer for hours at a time. Sometimes we go for several hours without speaking as I don’t want to break his focus. I’m doing artwork, or writing and though I’m absorbed in what I do, I’m able multiprocess as my work is intuitive and creative and doesn’t demand my total attention. Thanks for sharing this exercise. My husband and I highly recommend it to everyone. It really got us back on the same page around our larger goals and visions…not just the immediate problems to solve. It’s usually putting out fires or doing the impossible for my husband, or which color, brush or fabric should I use, for me…very different worlds. Thanks to you, the planets are back in alignment and we are now sailing through space as a dynamic duo once again.Elizabeth PowersDepoe Bay, Or

  40. Steve,As always, great content.  I’ve long recognized the value of visualization – and consider it to be essential to affecting and exercising within ourselves what I will refer to as ’proactive faith.’  As you indicate, the process circumvents the conscious mind as ‘gatekeeper,’ going directly to the mental centers of belief.  The clearer one experiences their vision, the stronger are the impressions made upon the mind.  The net result impresses upon and engages our beliefs in a manner that aligns them with our desired outcomes [consistent with the visions we create] – facilitating behaviors required to produce those outcomes that would otherwise be obstructed by the presence of misaligned beliefs. An highly worthwhile exercise for anyone interested in easing the way towards accomplishment of desired outcomes in situations where existing beliefs prevent one from ‘living and being’ in a state that is consistent with same.Nice!

  41. Hi Steve,  doing this exercise has brought to light a few words which keep repeating in different ways through the categories: link, help, time, share, variety.  I think these words may be key to finding my perfect business.  Thanks so much for these ideas.

    Hi Leila,

Thank you for your encouraging comment. I have found this particular approach to be incredibly useful for helping sort out all kinds of things. I even used it with my teen-age daughter to help her sort out some of the ‘life decisions’ she was making at the time.

It sounds like you are on your way. Congratulations!

    Sincerely,

    Steve

  43. Hi Steve,Something weird happened right after doing the financial exercise. A great fatigue came over me. Well, I’d just gotten back from a 700+ mile offshore sailing trip, but even so, I had to hit the pit for a few minutes.  Like a huge yoke had been lifted. Thanks – JJ

  50. Hey Steve, I AM SO EXCITED! I PURCHASED THE 21 AUDIOS & THE MANUAL TODAY. I SIGNED UP FOR THE MEMBERSHIP. IF YOU THINK I’M SCREAMING YOU’RE RIGHT! Oh that felt good. Really, I am very excited to be a part of your organization. I’m an affiliate, your student and an admirer. I just listened to you speak for an hour on the bonus audio and that was great. There’s nothing like true real excitement and passion. I’ll always remember how I felt tonight after I made the decision to spend this money. I related so closely when you talked about crying when you were in the car. I cry and a little piece of me dies each time I get on the phone to work. I hate it and it is a large insult to the beautiful creative person inside me. The shiny bright side is like you said I’m being forced to look at my limiting beliefs. I put myself in that job for a reason. I can write my ticket out with the support and encouragement I know I have received and will get more of from TPBF.  I hope I put a spark into someone to thrust them into action. Get TBBF, it’s great. we all owe it to ourselves to be the best we can dream of.Thanks Steve, you are a real class act. Karen

I enjoy your messages- I could identify with your experience of trying the car of your dreams, only to find it disappointing. I once dreamed of having a cute sports car, but was very dissatisfied with it when I actually tried it! (I’ve since got a gorgeous little car that I really love!)
When I did the exercise about finances, I found an undercurrent of disbelief about how high my desired income was. (Currently, I generate a small income- I am in the process of changing that!) I have yet to compose the affirmations, relating to my desires- Will come back to the exercise tomorrow.
Liked the idea of realigning with my husband by sharing the process.
    Keep up the good work!
    Thanks!

  54. Hi Steve, The biggest revelation for me is that as soon as you start seriously considering having something, and it becomes something more than just an ethereal dream, your mind begins to work on ways to get it - independently of your conscious mind. You begin to go down the track of what it is like to have it. I wondered for example if an Audi R8 is really fast enough, or should I go and look at it’s acceleration capabilities – so i could change to another car which is really what I would like (just an example). Napoleon Hill does something similar, and it is a powerful exercise. Great stuff.
