I’m a big fan of Sir Ken Robinson and his work on creativity and education. Because much of what I am teaching here on ThePerfectBizFinder Blog has to do with ‘re-thinking’ what’s possible for yourself, I believe his material, is relevant.
I found this 20 minute presentation about a year ago and think it puts the importance of allowing yourself to “excavate” and “cultivate” your creative genius from beneath years of ‘shoulds’, ‘shouldn’ts’, can’ts, and ‘don’ts’ in order to truly experience success in life.
Ken’s presentation is both comical and thought-provoking and I look forward to reading your thoughts below

PS – Breaking the models you’ve learned and beliefs you’ve formed over the years about how things have to be in order for your to experience success can be very difficult to do.

I totally agree with Sir Ken Robinson. We need to allow people to be who they are and celebrate their abilities instead of thinking that everyone is created to be the same. We are not. The need for culture is more important now then it was before the homogenization of society. People do not have enough stimulation to think critically in the mass media. The arts do allow us to stimulate these important muscles of the mind as well as entertain us.
I find it disgusting the way our culture is given drugs as if they are candy especially to little kids who are naturally energetic and curious. Why doesn’t the school system use these attributes that children have innately to spark their genius instead of medicating our children dulling the senses as well as the brain without any idea what the long term ramifications may be on the child placed on these unnecessary drugs.
It is simply mind boggling. The sense of humor coupled with his creative advice is very helpful. I wish I were there to witness this and speak like him.
Hi Steve:) This video is one of my all time favourites. It blends in so neatly with my own thoughts feelings and convictions. I am glad to see it among your resources:)
Yes Sir Ken is spot on. I know I’m a sphere that is supposed to fit into a cube, (makes it tricky to fit into the structure of this world). Now I’m a humble co-ordinator of after school care I’m in heaven, we create, laugh, play, dance, make music, and food and fun. We also do vedic maths, sacred geometry and alphabet origins, it’s games of fun, and they are learning so much. The experience fills me, and them, all of as one, with love and joy and gratitude, our imagination and intelligence is enhanced as we honour them. Yes, thank you Sir Ken I agree wholeheartedly, and I am acting on these principals as I plan our day and play.
