Lifestyle Guru or Growth Maven?

In the previous video I spoke about the important distinction between the entrepreneur and the proprietor.

I explained that it is vital for you to know which appeals to you because it determines many attributes of the business systems you will put in place to create your perfect business.

There is a 2nd vital distinction for you to consider before you go any further.  Watch this video to learn more:

Here is the 5 question survey drawn from Jeff Landers’ book, Home Office Cure From Hell, as I described in the video.  Answer the following 5 questions authentically from your heart and finish watching the video:

1. When you fantasize about your successful business, what scenario appeals to you the most?

  1. Many employees, a nice office space buzzing with activity and the knowledge that you are building a well-known regional or national company and brand.
  2. Great clients (that you pick and choose) with challenging and reputation-building projects, and a casual relaxed environment, plenty of extra time for leisure, home responsibilities, and family.

2. When you think about the perfect workday, which description is more in line with your way of thinking?

  1. A cup of Starbucks coffee to get you going, in the office by 8:00 a.m., eat lunch at a fancy restaurant with a prospective client, high-powered afternoon meetings with investment bankers and members of the media, a strategic planning session with your senior staff, complete employee reviews until 7:30 p.m., meet with colleagues for networking and drinks, get home by 11 p.m.
  2. Up at 8:00 a.m., get the kids off to school, at your desk in the spare bedroom working in your sweats until noon, grab a cold burrito from the fridge, conference call with clients while throwing a load of laundry into the washer, pick up the kids at school at 3 p.m., coach soccer, finish a new client proposal, and send invoices.  Dinner with spouse and kids at 7:00 p.m., check email, blog, do a dozen little things that need to get done, read a few chapters of a good personal development book and in bed by 11 pm

3. What is your definition of personal success?

  1. Building a major business with a legacy, respect of colleagues, financial independence, opportunities to use your position and wealth to make a difference in the world.
  2. Independence, challenging and creative work, time with family and friends, a secure and consistent living, and service to the community.

4. I am more comfortable with a work environment that is ______________.

  1. Formal.  I prefer designated spaces for employees, clear boundaries between staff and management, a conference room for meetings, a receptionist to greet guests, and a clear beginning and end to the workday.
  2. Informal. I prefer to multitask, moving between personal and professional obligations as they come up.  I like to work in my pajamas or sweats (except when meeting clients).  I prefer a workday schedule that corresponds to the needs of my family and clients, even if that means working at odd hours or occasionally on weekends.

5. What do you think your business will be like in 10 years?

  1. My company, its brand, and its products will be recognized as a leader regionally, nationally, or internationally, have many employees, be positioned for consistent future growth, and be constantly innovating in new directions.
  2. I will have a steady, not overwhelming stream of challenging work and an impressive reputation.  I will make more than a comfortable living and have plenty of free time to be with family and friends.

Be sure to go back and finish watching the video.  I’ll give you the key to the survey.  You might be surprised.

Which did you turn out to be, Growth Maven, Lifestyle Guru or maybe a little of both?

It’s not a exact science, but I think you can see that if you don’t know this you can really get into trouble fast. Most people have mental models of success that tends toward one or the other of these.

I’m standing for all that’s possible for you in life and business.

Sincerely,

Steve

  5. Thanks for the info. You are correct, I showed myself to be more the
lifestyle guru. I am 76 years old, and a widow. there is no one to \’bother\’ me except my two dogs. My childre are grown and so are most, if not all, of my grandchildren. The video is easy to understand and the surveys and questions enlightening. I expect to build my business in such a way that I may teach me children and my friends how to be resession free.

  7. The 5 question survey showed me to be a lifestyle guru as I knew it would as soon as I saw the answers from which to choose. As a 61 year old widow with no children to worry about I am enjoying a retired life doing handicrafts, specializing in crocheting accessories for the 1″ to 12″ scale miniaturist hobbyist. However, to earn a little extra income, I would like to set up a small at-home business helping newly-weds or singles starting on their own set up financial plans and budgets to start them on their way to financial freedom. I have a background in teaching and accounting so I look forward to the 24 page analysis to see if this is where it directs me. Thank you for the informative and well-presented information.
PS. You have a spelling error in the last sentence above the video – furher should be further.

  8. My deepest desire is that of a Lifestyle Guru, in terms of my personal work ethic in the business, however i also have a strong drive to innovate and have others working the my business with / for me. Is that a cross over of the two different business outcome objectives? I certainly do not want to work ‘alone’ 100% of the time, i do want to work with a ‘team’, however my hope is that i / we operate mostly independently, with the lifestyle guru business orientation, yet building a large business which supercededs the more contained nature lifestyle gurus business… i feel a little confused. Want to eat my cake and have it to?
What process would i use, given there is some complexity in what i want to achieve?
    Many thanks

  10. Hi Steve, I am a Lifestyle Guru! I knew it as you were telling us about the two. It was an easy choice. I am feeling very hopeful that I can get myself launched into my own business. I have been “attempting” to do so for a long time. Your approach is empowering me towards finally making the needed decisions! What I have heard and seen so far are very applicable and easy to understand. Currently 65, I want to be more in control of my financial situation then I am now. What you have said so far resonates with me very well! Indeed, I am excited!

One Question: Can I send my invitation email to a friend of mine if he wants to take part in this process? Thanks!

  11. Hi Steve,
I knew as soon as I answered the first question (and all the rest) I was a Lifestyle Guru. I looked at the survey results and did learn something which I never believed about myself and will have to think about. I may need to review some of my thoughts about the kind of business I am going to start. The videos are good as well, pretty direct and to the point.

  12. Thank you for the information – it has confirmed that I am a Lifestyle Guru. I am looking forward to reading my report in detail, it will help me recognise my true character & worth.

  13. Firstly, thankyou very much for the videos and taking the time to put together so much info. It is really appreciated.

I am somewhat confused as I answered the first question as want ‘the office buzzing’ and so on but answered the next three as wanting the life style and the last one as ‘wanting the well know brand etc’. So you can see why I am confused. I want the security that comes from having a large organisation but I know this will come with some sacrifices in the short term to build the life style a little later.

  14. Thank you so much for your enlightening videos. I am definitly a LifeStyle Guru as I answered the whole 5 questions to that affect. Now I\’m going to read the report you sent me to see what is suitable for me.

  16. Hi Steve,
I have been reveiwing many like minded coaching newsletters over the past year or so, which I find overwhelming at best. I found yours to be intriging, fun, direct and so far …free! I have read a few of the posted reviews and noticed a few ‘elderly’ people still interested in business. I commend them as I am ‘on my way’
and this gives me hope that I am not actually getting too old to begin my own business, perhaps even in these tougher economic times.
Very curious to see what comes next?

  17. I don’y get a clear answer here. I like some features of both lifestyles.

Posted By: Benjamin Hopkins | 2:30 am
  18. I am a growth maven. I find that when I am left to my own devices at home and in sweat pants, I tend to be very lazy and do not get things done.
When I am forced to put in an appearance, I accomplish tasks.
Good luck to all of the others doing this.
To the people out there who are unable to determine which one they are, sure, there are good things on both sides of the fence, but which thing is the MORE desirable?

  25. I would like to thank you first. The Perfect Biz Finder Report is enlightening and interesting. I never thought of myself as an entrepreneur/capable of handling all that goes into running one. How reliable is it:-)

There is a complexity though. I answered B\’s to 3 Questions i.e. to 1, 2 and 5(No. 5 being doubtful). What does that make me. I maybe a freesoul/a nature art and music lover and a traveller and love the freedong but I am a professional at the same time and do enjoy a certain degree of descipline and order and working from home all the time will not do it for me – besides leaving home for work does have that activating effect and being forced to stay active and not give in to laziness.
I would love to know if i could be helped with determining which one and why?

With tons of gratitude and appreciation

  34. Hey, thanks Steve, this is very interesting… I live already as a Lifestyle Guru, and some aspects I like, some are difficult – the discipline of a bigger organization is missing sometimes.

I am thinking of an alternative, which I would call a small group activity. This is a new term and concept we are working on for 2 years with my partner.

I\’m a lifestyle guru, who would like to create a small group activity. Not authoritarian, but a bunch of lifestyle gurus working together toward a common goal!

Anyone has ideas on this line, it is very welcome!

  37. Hi Steve, I appreciate the value you have already provided. If there are only 2 choices, I am definitely a Lifestyle Guru:) Alex Mandossian, one of my role models, has become a multimillionaire while working from home with e-commerce:) I am a Holistic Lifestyle and Self-Care Coach, Speaker and Writer. I host teleseminars, do individual and group coaching calls, offer a nutritional MLM program, promote other people’s products and services with articles and e-books on the web.
I have spent the past year learning about the strategies for online marketing and sales.

I have realize now that I am way ready to delegate the tech and accounting aspects of my business to a virtual assistant.

  41. Hi Steve,

First, let me tell you that when I read these words from your emails:
“I’m standing for all that is possible for you in life and business.” and “It is an amazing blessing to have you here and a great honor to have this opportunity to serve you. Thank you all.” , tears came to my eyes. Your spirit of service is beautiful and so needed in the times we are in now. Thank you for that example!

I am most definitely a lifestyle guru, and so far things I’ve done to create income in that way have not worked. I don’t know what kind of business to create (I am 57, so feel that it’s a little late to start that now….though feel encouraged when I hear others’ ages – thank you!), plus my financial needs for income are immediate – no savings to start up a business with. But I find I seem to be attracting all kinds of materials re starting a business – ie your free training here, a book handed to me by a friend, and other resources. And since I’m sincerely praying to be shown about what to do next about my financial situation, I will continue on this path in front of me, and see where it leads. Thank you! I am encouraged.

  43. Very interesting……I’m 62, heck that makes me middle aged in this group.
Let’s see, home schooled 6 children, coached baseball, softball, hockey, soccer. Took time off to take kids to various camps. Founded or helped found 2 home school organizations. Started a hockey league for the kids (btw, never played).
    I’m not sure LOL

  44. We have reviewed the beginnings of your video series, have taken the test and answered the questions. My partner found the first questions not to his lifestyle liking but also found the second set too much oriented towards the stay at home mom going back to work.
Is there a possibiliy of a third category?

  45. Steve,

As I answered the questions, I found myself split between the two. I want to be out of the house growing a business and yet have the flexibility to be with my family and do the things that I choose. I like the working leisurely idea and yet have the big clients and everything else as well.

    Your thoughts?

    Andy

Posted By: Andy | 11:02 am
  46. Steve;
I also find that I fit both sides of the coin as family and community are important to me. I am an active member of the Rotary and find this form of giving very satisfying. In my business, I have the flexibility to fit my business around family and other non-business activities, meaning that I do work odd hours and weekends, when needed. I also recognise that providing the space for others to succeed with me is also very rewarding, although I have set up the environment for many of my team to work from home, meeting together once a week formally. The idea of creating a huge amount of wealth to share is intriguing, although being known for creating a legacy doesn’t really matter, having created one that continues would be very satisfying. Thus, I would guess I fit the “Growth Maven” rather than “Lifestyle Guru”

Posted By: Janet | 11:03 am
  47. And I am a lifestyle guru and have been since 2000. I didn’t even need to take the survey! It’s good to know what I am. :-)

  48. I so appreciate your direct, non-threatening approach in video format. I find this more engaging, and feel more of a connection to you as a sincere person, standing for me, than an e-mail or letter. The videos have been helpful in guiding me towards an understanding of my self in a business arena. Thank you for this. You are making a difference in my life!

  49. Steve,

    Thanks for the great videos!

What about those of us who are passionate about building a large business but one where lifestyle comes first? I want a lifestyle where I’m doing what I love all day–and I love the work I do… and its not so i can take the kids to school or do the laundry. I want a lifestyle with high-powered business meetings, lots of work, etc…. but I don’t want to grow it the traditional way. I’m looking more at building via outsourcing, licensing, etc.

  54. Hi Steve!
Thanks for this info. Intuitively I knew when I made my switch from many corporate years of banking to my own consulting business that i was going to be happier as a lifestyle guru. That said, as my vision becomes a reality, i think I may find myself attracted to the growth maven. How often have you seen this take place in your experience?

Posted By: Lydia | 1:10 pm
  55. I’m a lifestyle guru. I knew this before the questions because I want a simple life with everyday joys and happiness with my family. Nothing complicated or overbearing. Looking foward to this. Alot!

  56. Hey All – This is fantastic stuff from all of you. The comments and emails have been coming so fast I can barely keep up. Thank you!

Here is something to consider….A number of you have commented that you are sort of blend – ie. You want to build something ‘big’ but want freedom of a lifestyle business.

or others see it is a transition….start as a LG and grow to the GM.

I want to make sure you see that there is NO conflict in these.

Instead the insights you are sharing are clear indications of how you will want to organize your business (processes and so forth) in order for it to deliver what you want.

For instance in the first case – You are a GM who who wants lifestlye freedom. You want to own a business which employs lots of people and has a big market presence … an edifice of some sort. BUT you do not want this to keep you from doing the things you love….

You CAN have it the way you want it. You do not have to sacrifice one for the other. Instead, the awareness you now have provides important insight to the structure you need to put in place….

Perhaps you establish your vision for the business with a team of others and have them actually build and manage the day to day operation. It is the distinction of working “on” your business vs. working “in” your business.

Or maybe you carve out a role within your business that allows you to express your purpose and commitment while leading and directing others to support the other areas of your business.

This is how I manage to run 6 businesses now. My principle contribution is the vision for and direction of the business. For 5 of the 6 my involvement is primarily in directing and leading others to the fulfillment of that vision.

The exception is this one. My direct involvement in the daily operation of ThePerfectBizFinder is the expression of my passion for personally impacting the lives of others. While I am clearly not building this business alone, I am able to remain focused on my strengths, my point of passion, my most effective contribution while employing the support of an outstanding team of people to deliver to you.

    Make sense?

    Thanks again for your comments.

  57. I am definitely a lifestyle guru; but, I want things a little differently than what your questions direct. I want to learn how to generate an income that becomes more automatic and passive than having to focus on a business every single day of the week. I am now 56 and want to know that I can do something that I like for the rest of my life that will generate income. My survey results said that I was suited for managerial, technical, and health. I am a pharmacist at the present time and have been for 32 years. Now I can understand why I dislike it: because it gives me too much anxiety for the stress and concentration toward detail that is required to do the work. It involves trying too hard on my part trying to correct other professionals sloppy orders/work. In addition, many times, it is repetition, repetition, repetiion which gets very boring after while. Plus I now see that the profession is not what I saw when I began this road; nor, do I have the enthusiasm or interest in it that I once had. I am still very, very interested in improving health (my own and others that I care for); but, not in the regulated doctrines taught by medical and pharmacy schools. I prefer to understand how the body can heal itself. But that doesn’t lead me anywhere that I can see to generating an income. My other deep interest is in finance: stock market, forex, options, etc. and I have been studying for approximately 10 years learning as much as I can about investing. Could you please give me some insight about what direction I should lean because the survey just confused the hell out of me.

  60. Dear Steve,

Thanks so much for providing this journey to me!!! Your generosity is amazing :) I am definitely a life-style guru… but with tremendous goals. I find the insight that is being provided in this life lesson invaluable. I already know what I want to do and have spent quite some time researching various aspects such as the need (massive need), the personal reward (equally huge) and what it will take for me to be successful at my endeavor. So, I know most everything except potentially the biggest thing, and that is how to get started. I’m hoping through this exercise I will learn how to get started with my business.

I am both excited and intrigued.

I look forward to the next lesson and any feedback you may have.

I find your information very informative and I appreciate the time and effort you took to go through this process with us. This is the first time I have done a survey and follow up on it. I believe that I am a both a life style and a growth guru for the most part of it and I am looking forward to your other lesson to better understand this process more. I am just confuse with what is it that I want to do so I hope by the end of this I will have some idea. I am currently in a rut that need to get free of. Thanks for the info I am going through your 24 page email trying to understand what type of person I am. This is a good idea for you to be helping people like me I hope the reward you get from this is even better than what we get.

Thanks again for all the info

  63. I answered B to all of the survey’s questions – yes, I’ve long bought into the internet lifestyle dream, best expressed in Timothy Ferriss’ “The 4-Hour Workweek” (where time freedom is even more crucial than financial freedom in defining the truly rich), yet I can only feel comfortable building a business or being an entrepreneur for a period – THEN I WANT TO RETIRE, AND TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT PRETTY MUCH THE MOMENT I SO CHOOSE; THEREFORE I FEEL I NEED AN EXIT STRATEGY RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING.

So I can only partially tolerate the “lifestyle guru” label – I’d say it reflects more how I presently envision the first phase of my future life; when that’s over, then other phases would follow and, possibly after a long time, I might one day need to wear the hat of a growth maven of sorts… Let me explain.

To date my motives with regard to building an internet business revolve around:

    a) securing my parents’ financial future;
    b) leaving them;
    c) being able to afford as much travel, training and education as could serve my life’s purpose.

Now, my life’s purpose in and of itself has nothing to do with business, in fact it would one day compel me to do away with mine completely (though I might sometime find myself in a position to transpose some entrepreneurial or business spirit and skills into the activities of a very different field), and that’s why I need to make sure to have it structured in a way that prevents it from turning into a golden cage and technically allows me to get totally out of it in one day, if necessary.

  64. To be a success in life is to work with what you’ve got and make the most of what you have.

Posted By: Usiku | 7:35 pm
  65. I answered B to most of the questions and do prefer a lifestyle business. However, I also enjoy the interaction with people and the energy in an office setting. I enjoy meetings with clients.  In the end, I’m a lifestyle guru who would also like a business that I can develop a passive income and get away from the day to day routine.

  67. Incredible, thought provoking material.
As time works it’s magic, I notice my mind is being naturally drawn to possibilities and options around me.  Thank you for offering another level of support to my already deep enquiring around developing the next step.

  68. Thanks so much again, Steve, for bringing me to a better awareness of my intrinsic life goals and how they can be achieved by charting my path more consciously rather than defaulting to a ’wait and see what happens’ mode. Your comment (above) about the possibility of having someone else manage the day to day operation certainly struck a chord, so I’ll be looking into that as well.

  69. I am learning with your videos. Business was never my educational background but somehow I got caught in it. As to the questions, most of the B’s appeal to me which would indicate a lifestyle guru, however, I want to make a real difference in the world and want whatever it is that I do to grow and be far reaching so I see a growth maven emerging. I like both the relaxed day to day of the lifestyle guru with more formal meetings and office settings interspersed. So what does that mean. Can’t there be both?

  70. Love your videos.  I am a lifestyle guru….who has already lived the growth maven life.  I’m ready to experience the life of a very successful lifestyle guru.  Your videos have already given me insight and motivation. I look forward to more.

  71. Hi Steve

Firstly – thank you so much for doing all this, giving of your time and know-how freely – it is very much appreciated.
I live in Australia and have just been lucky enough to come across your site.  Love it – love the info and love what you do.
Turns out I am a lifestyle guru – something I have felt I was and now I know for sure.  I have been looking, for oh so many years, for the right business for myself – one I feel comfortable with, one I can see myself long term doing and one that I fit into and it fit into my life – not easy – hence, am still looking (am sure I’ll find one).
Thank you for all your helpful info – it has inspired me greatly.

  73. Hi Steve,Thanks for all the good information.  Looks like I’m a GM.  Who knew? ; o )  I’m in the process of retiring from my “day” job and going full time into my healing practice.  I thought I was retiring to a home business, but after answering the questions, I’ve changed my point of view.  I keep seeing myself in 5 years, with staff, an office and speaking to large groups….. I’m looking forward to your other videos.  Cheers!

  74. I’m definitely a Lifestyle Guru, but I still want to leave a legacy with my business.  Maybe I’ll hire a Growth Maven at some point to take my business to that level before I “retire”.

  81. Hi Steve,I am a lifestyle guru and lookforward to the next 25 days.  I would like to forward your website to my entire e-mail address book, but feel the need to know and understand your business before I recommend it to friends and family. I can refer you hundreds of families, but need you to build my trust.  I see hundreds of self help websites daily, but know we need to pick one thing and stay focused with it to ensure the greatest chance of success.

  82. Wow, i am schizophrenic!  I want the lifestyle in the end but am never content to stay too small.  I have built a few businesses but have never been able to get them past about 25 employees.  I have wondered why, perhaps my lack of management skills, perhaps my industry (construction, window and door specialty supply & installation).  I want to have a level of success that will fund charity and lifestyle and allow plenty of free time so i want to grow it bigger but don’t really want to live for work.  BALANCE???

  83. Thanks for sharing your experience and expertise so generously. Too many people seem to miss the point of their strengths, passions, and talents, so they get stuck in dead-end jobs or live someone else’s idea of a life instead. You are offering an opportunity to either reassess past work histories or get started on the right path from the beginning of a career. I started a “lifestyle guru” consulting business in Japan in 1994, and have enjoyed pursuing my passion (the publishing industry) while working with client offices in various countries on four continents (in other words, I’ve enjoyed the best of both worlds–lifestyle freedom and the office routines of clients from whom I could always learn something new). Balancing the joy of family responsibilities with a love of travelling to enjoy the awe and wonder of new people and cultures has made life exciting, to say the least. Now that the kids are independent adults, it may be time to try “growth maven” for a change. Thanks for the inspiration, Steve, and if you want to localize your business to the Asian market, just let me know.

  85. Hi Steve,I am definitely more of a Lifestyle Guru, but I also want or am attracted to elements of the Growth Maven like many others have also commented. Thanks for all of this useful information!  Can’t wait for more details in the future. I am looking for ways to grow my business/ organization. Would love all the help I can get to make it hugely successful and spread the message of maintaining/achieving great health. :)

  86. Hi SteveI naturally incline towards “Lifestyle Guru”.  However, there is a part of me that hankers after the prestige that comes with growing a business and having more “visible” success (such as a large team/office etc). Also as, I’ve really understood the importance of building businesses to obtain financial security, I’m not certain how easy it is to build a business, that you might subsequently sell on, as a lifestyle guru………..  At the moment, my biggest business asset is my knowledge and I having properly figured how I might successfully leverage that to build a business that someone else could take over as a going concern – not unless technology can find a way to download my brain!Best wishesCarole

  100. Lifestyle. Lots of money from trading. High priority is keeping my wealth out of the hands of the dictatorship we live in in Amerika. I like businesses that appeal to my hobbies which are cars, horses and eating. I like the idea of having a few employees to assist me, but I prefer to invest in other entrepreneurs’ ventures for services that I use on a regular basis. They are motivated by their ownership and I get a tax benefit for investing in their business.

I seem to have found what my biz seems to be. Your approaches have sofar have incouraged me that I’m on the right track. Curious to see what  else I will learn from the rest of your program. What success means to me, I had already found out in meditation, which is the same general approach, to get behind the mind. Thanks for this new technic. What biz typ I’m: almost right down the middle.1.The knowledge that I,m building a well-known international system to educate people, in a relaxed atmosphare, guiding good people(being their best), for having lots of extra time for selfdevelopment, family and leasure.2.b     3.2/3a 1/3b    4.b     5.aWonder what that makes me?GratefulTim

Kicking cancer and other life changing stuff. It is a joy to share life experiences with others and to support them in finding their joy and success.  Success to me is knowing at the end of the day that I lived every moment of the day and spread a little joy around.

  109. I have been both a lifestyle Guru and a Growth Maven and successful at both, however both robbed me of a life. I was a self employed consultant for 25 years, but I found that my life consisted of flying from one city  to another,42 weeks a year. I enjoyed and was great at teaching client and I had 95% client retentions but eventually I burned out. I realized that when you are the commodity your income was limited to the number of clients you can handle .I took the survey with curiosity already guessing the outcome.I must confess my New York cynical side wondered when the sales pitch was coming . I also thought what a great way for you to build a list for your blog or ezine  or have access to an army of potential pre qualified workers for a home based business or multilevel marketing company. None the less I allowed my self to stay open and perhaps learn something new or be inspired. Perhaps I could use you as a model for what I want to create. As it has been said if one person can do something you can do the same thing just learn what their mental and operational systems are and duplicate themThank you for sharing, I am inspired to learn more.

  110. I’m still not sure where my future lies – returning to my musical roots at middle age (I’m 46) or concentrating on the massive learning curve of growing a new internet business.  Perhaps it’s both?  One thing is for sure, I’m most definitely a lifestyle guru and not an entrepreneaur.  Trying to be what I’m really not nearly destroyed me and I’ve been picking up the pieces over the last 7 months.
My biz profile is interesting – balanced on everything! One thing is for sure, I need to start making some money reasonably quickly and have no seed capital.Looking forward to the rest of the series…….

I love it!I want to thank you for showing me the difference. I was getting all nervous that I MUST build my online biz into a mega structure. You gotta have fun in life. So far I have found everything so helpful, so wonderful that I still waiting for the other shoe to drop and find the catch behind all this, and expecting to find a paragraph asking for money in any hidden corner, thats the way human nature and the american way of living have created in me…… but then the words of “conversations with god” (book 1 ch 7) come to my mind, and everything (free) makes sense…… ” A true master is not the one with more students but one who creates the most masters.A true leader is not the one with the most followers, but one who creates the most leaders.A true king is not the one with the most subjects, but the one who leads the most to royalty.A true teacher is not the one with most knowledge, but the one that causes the most others to have knowledge…” THANK YOU, FOR SHARING WITH US YOUR KNOWLEDGE. from the bottom of our heart to yours.

  134. Yes Patrice it is very common for us to invest a great deal of ourselves building somebody else’s vision for life.  We are heavily influenced at a subconscious level about what we “should want” or “should do”.  When it truth alll we must do is what we have been gifted to do.

There is a powerful truth in the cliche’ “Do what you love and the money will come”.

    I am living proof.

Steve – this video hit the nail on the head for me as to the difficulty and pressure I have been putting on myself to be productive in a way that doesn’t fit me.  I’ve been a closeted lifestyle guru trying to make myself be a growth maven.  Now I know they’re BOTH okay and I can relax into my lifestyle guru attire and kick back!

I reckon what I’ve learned there will come in handy in some aspects of what I do in this new way of working. Your assistance with the making of choices is coming in very handy.

  141. Steve,Thank you for your time and the efforts you put forth in bring us this valuable information.  Based on this recent survey, I’m a life style guru.  From the first survey I took, I’m clearly a square peg in a round hole, my current position is in sales, and I’ve been in this field for the past 9 years.  I recently was in the unemployment ring for 7 months, i moved to another state and accepted another sales position because it was inline with my most relevant experience.  In 2005, I bought and currently do own a business out of state, aside from my regular job and thus far I’ve been lucky because the business runs 80% on auto pilot without my input.  And while the business doesn’t put any $$ in my pocket, it does cover its bills and it’s been successful to the point that I’m able to withdraw almost 50% of my initial investment.  My goal is to create a business(s) that affords me the luxury of enjoying my time thus the life style guru is a perfect fit.  I have a business plan in mind and I plan on create an official business plan within the coming weeks to determine if it’s a viable business.Again, sincere thanks for your time and efforts.Best Regards,Ravi

It appears that a lone wolf is closer to the lifestyle guru, yet he could also be a growth maven. Is there a business model that a would best suit a lone wolf? Thanks very much. Mark Goldstein

Lifestyle Guru, like 95% of the people here… But I do prefer a formal office environment (question 4?) because it helps me to focus, sometimes i get too distracted working from home all day.. that is if i am working from home that day instead of on-site with the client.. but its hard to justify having an office if i am not going to be there much

Not, yet but am working towards this.

  156. Hi, Steve. This is helpful. I was stressing myself (as I launch my coaching practice) thinking I had to be a mavin when I’m, in fact, a lifestyle guru–though this is my first time to hear a label applied to it. Just two days ago as I gave this more thought, I realized that even if some people I know (and strangers) would be more impressed with the mavin scenario as my result, the only opinion (and goal) that matters is mine. To borrow from Leo Buscaglia, no peach can ever expend enough energy to become a banana to please people who only like bananas. A sprinter will never be a long-distance runner, and needs to celebrate being a sprinter. This video helped me give myself permission to accept that who I am and what I choose is called being on purpose and aiming at the right target. Thanks!

  160. With some tweaks, I would be a Lifestyle Guru.  If I did work from home, I would still create structure (throwing in a load of laundry in the middle of my workday would likely not happen.)  I would also not be in sweats, I think that dressing up for work affects your frame of mind and how you approach business.  One of my personal goals is that someday I would be able to leverage my position and wealth to make a world difference but this appeared as an option for the Growth Maven only.  The option for the Lifestyle Guru appeared to be solely on the local level.

Knowing I next month am going to sit in on a work again, a nearby municipality, where I think I will feel good with the personal, due to the short interview I attended some weeks ago. This is not that much business, more something like service. So I´m wondering what type I am. Perhaps anyway more home style, suits me. But the casual is there to.

  167. Hi Steve, It looks like everyone response is “lifestyle” maven. Is this just a coincidence, or is the survey biased?Love your workDarrel

    Hi Darrel

I agree that a majority of respondents do turn out Lifestyle Gurus. It is not that the mini-survey is biased, but rather I believe that many people are seeking a business as an escape from the 9-5 (or 9-9) work-a-day in jobs working for bosses and companies that may not provide the personal reward they envision as a Lifestyle Guru.

You may be interested to learn that a significant percentage of the people ‘graduating’ from my program start out as dedicated and committed lifestyle gurus only to find that their businesses expand and grow into maven business. BUT the distinction is that because they have mastered the principles and techniques in my program, the are able organize their new growth maven businesses such that it does not compromise their lifestyle desires.

Stick around. I think you will enjoy the next 29 days.

    Thanks

    Steve

  168. I felt warm sensations course through me as I read the LSG descriptions.  I knew it was exactly what I had lived for the last 13 years.  I know that I have enjoyed much of this lifestyle too. However, it was all snatched from me last April, 2008 as a house fire took with it my very large uninsurable inventory – my business evaporated, as did vendors, and customers.  After several months, and reflecting on my experience, I now know that I was relieved of a very hectic and a deadend work life.  And I have been given a chance to stop and think (for a change).  I must find my true purpose in life, and enjoy life as the “true” LSG.  Making time and having freedom with my family.  I want to travel by Gulfstream V for leisure, and I want my new business on auto-pilot as well. I am gratelful to a really special man for referring me to your blog.  I had expressed to him that my heart is confused, and yet somehow I still know that I have an awesome purpose waiting to make an appearance.  Just like in the movies – I want to feel soft rain on my face, awake to crisp mornings on the islands, and allow the warm sun to penetrate my body- without the concern for my residual wealth.   I want to identify my purpose and then shout out loud with joy when I know it. Thank you Sir for helping a lot of guys and gals in the search for excellence. Chris

  171. Steve,  Thanks for your information. The videos are interesting and I find that I’m a “   Lifestyle Guru “,interesting terminology though, as my challenge seems to be the ability to convey the big picture to others.  Also I find that I am easily distracted from tasks at hand ,as well as, a bit lazy when working at home. I realize these are things only I can work on myself.   I am thinking that your material is one way to help others determine whether or not what I do is benifical for them as well.  Again Thank You, Wendell

  172. Hello Steve,
No need to answer the questions.  I’m a Lifestyle Guru in spades. I really like the independence of that choice. For me, the Mavin choice would present way too much structure and become a sort of prison (of my own creation). I had some opportunities to explore Mavinism during my working career. Not my thing.
I need to increase my income. My second novel is nearly complete. I will post it on Amazon as a print on demand book where my first novel resides. I need to find ways to increase sales of these books.
    Thanks for your program.

Hi Sharon – I understand you ‘concern’. Just he other days one of our readers noticed that the majority of people say they are lifestyle gurus and wondered if my survey was rigged.

I have to wonder if what is really going on is that job-disenchanted people are here seeking whatever is next for them and because they are disgruntled in the moment the majority are ‘choosing’ the lifestyle guru….

To be a growth maven does NOT necessarily mean you will limit your freedom or be constrained in any way….it’s always up to you….

Not that I am advocating one or the other frankly. Just something to consider…..

    Thanks for visiting and commenting.

  173. Good afternoon, SteveReal Estate is my life & I love what I do, can’t see myself doing anything else. I’ve turned from working within an office because of the distractions, negativity, time wasters, even thiefs…so by working within the confines of a home office, everything is at my fingertips, in place, extremely organized, keeps my flow going, it’s quiet & totally contained. It’s even more profitable for me since I don’t have to drive to and from an office, saves on gasoline, time & other expenses. I’m a Lifestyle Guru mixed in with a Growth Maven, my daily schedule is hectic & busy most of the time, since real estate involves appointments, LOTS of appointments- showing & listing homes, working with buyers and sellers, appraisers, home inspectors, pest inspections, stagers, title companies, loan officers, networking, etc - can get crazy at times & hard to balance. I am building a legacy, a business that I can sell within 10 years so the next person thinking of starting a real estate career, can have a turn key business full of potential clients immediately, without going through all the hard knocks I have experienced. Then I want to continue on a part time basis as a real estate consultant & advisor, staying busy – keeping my mind sharp with additional streams of income rolling in. I love to travel, but find it hard to truly relax, my mind won’t stop clicking about clients I am working with. If I am away, it costs me hundreds of dollars to pay someone to handle my calls & appointments. I never get a vacation like most people, where it’s easy to walk away for a week or two – where someone else is assigned while you are gone. Nope, I have to hire someone, pay someone, to be able to get away & trust right decisions get made. Which is what I am trying to figure out – how to have my career in real estate, working long hours with no control when a call comes in, and have a balanced life, where I can tune it out for awhile and relax, without a cell phone in my ear. Maybe this shouldn’t be posted on the blog, since this is a long read…but I’m looking for some hard advice.

    Hi Carla

Sorry I cold not get back to you sooner. I was traveling.

Yours is an interesting perspective. On the one hand you say you are totally enthralled with your real estate business but by the end of your post it appears that you feel you are a slave (or perhaps worse) to your business “love”.

One of the things I will teach you in ThePerfectBizFinder Program is how our subconscious minds fool us into believing…and therefor experiencing …that things must be a certain way. We say things like “find it hard to truly relax”, “I never get a vacation like most people”, “I can’t trust the decisions other make on my behalf”, or “I can’t leave my work because……”

When whats really going on is we are creating all of that ourselves. For instance, who has decided that she has to “to have a career in real estate she I have to work long hours with no control when a call comes in”? I know it may appear that this is the way it is…as if it is outside of your control, but that is not actually true.

You are responsible for your experience….you are responsible for having the balance you want or not…

You subconscious mind tells you otherwise though. Once you learn how to change what “it” believes, you change your experience.

Hope this helps…I would definitely recommend ThePerfectBizFinder Program though.

    Thank you for your post.

  174. Hi Steve,Thanks for  the exercise! I agree with others who like myself may have had mixed feelings about picking the Life Guru over the Growth Maven. As you said in a different video, in order to maximize our creativity , we need to broaden our horizonz(something to that effect?) So I am thinking that I like some of the elements of a Growth Maven that could make the difference between being just ” comfortable financially” so that I can be in my jeans and t- shirt whenever I please and don’t get in a boring routine in the home office or at the kitchen table just because I like my independence . I also like the idea of business lunches with select clients in classy restaurants!

    Hi Nike!

I was browsing the comments today and was taken by yours. I understand you completely and want to make an observation.

It sounds like you believe a lifestyle business will limit what is financially possible for you and so you are thinking you will have to ’suffer’ with elements of the growth maven business. Something to consider, is that this distinction is more about the structure of the business and your individual role in it than it is about your independence and freedom. I have had lifestyle businesses that felt every-bit as restrictive as the largest of corporations and corporate enterprises in which I was a free as i am today.

I share this with you only to reveal that you can have it any way you like. You choose. You just have to know what it is first, and that is what my program is all about.

I look forward to hearing more from you. You are amazing.

    Sincerely,

    Steve

  177. Hello Steve.  For me, this one seems particularly easy to answer . . . though probably now a standard answer.  Consistent with my previous post, I actually fall into both categories – roughly equally, if I read myself accurately.  This does not represent indecisiveness; but rather, an acknowledgement that I will be going through a period as ‘Lifestyle Guru’ while in the mode of ‘proprietor’ on my path towards creation of an entrpreneurial enterprise – at which time I will, of necessity, transition into a ’Growth Maven’ for the duration of my executive association therewith.Acknowledging that change can be uncomfortable for many, I anticipate the need to make preparation for stakeholders of my venture(s) to set their expectations accordingly.  The internal culture, for example, will need to adapt to inevitable changes that will accompany such transition – both in me and in the business that we craft together.More good info and perspective, Steve.  Thank you.  Looking forward to more.Glenn B in Cleveland, OH

I also enjoyed seeing how many others are Lifestyle Gurus as well.  Every business that I’ve owned, I’ve either lived in the same building or within a block or two. I’ve tried the corporate thing and find it exhausts me physically and my creativity takes a big hit.Working at home is my ideal as I can also cook dinner, do the laundry and all those things that would otherwise be waiting for me after work. My husband and I enjoy working together even if we’re working on differenst projects, so it works out quite well.

Though it was confusing at first, I can see some similarities as to my strengths and weaknesses.Your videos are very useful. 190. Morning Steve,I live in South Africa:- definately a L G as we want to have the time to travel,I think it was Rinaldo that said he needs help to build a website ME Too.I am in MLM (conventional), and want to take the business to the Internet, problem is there are so many so called Gurus out there offering so many “proofs” of success, and bearing in mind the exchange rate of our currencydown here, how the L do we not end up with some scam or scheme. As an “older ” citizen ,surely someone has a system that says:- “This is a computer,This is the Internet-heres how you start ,SWITCH the computer on!” Ok I’m exagerating, but you know what I mean, A bit like this series of yours is doing .Great Job!

Hi Victor – Thank you for your comment.

The truth is there is no magic to this. if you have’nt seen it yet, you will be seeing a video I call “The Value Principle” which answers the (unspoken) part one of your question; what specific ‘value’ for your customer or downline are you planning to provide by taking your MLM to the internet?

You need to start there because you need to know what to tell the person you’re going to hire to do the web work for you exactly what you want.

If you decide what you want to provide and can communicate it clearly then you can easily hire a web tech on any number of ‘tech for hire’ web sites to do the work. You negotiate an acceptable price and pay nothing until the job is done to your satisfaction…period. Simple dimple.

So don’t be daunted by the tech stuff. if you are doing an MLM then that is probably not your strength anyway….right?

The challenge is getting crystal clear about the value you intend to provide and crafting the business model that will deliver it aling with the return you desire.

    Let me know what happens.

    Steve

PS – I am not sure which kind of ‘Guru’ you were referring to. I have a s simple litmus test to help you with this but need to know what kind of guru you’re talking about. Keep in mind that it is YOUR business and YOU set the rules for how you will and will not do business.

  196. Hello Steve………Your process is simple, direct and to the point. It was interesting to read a number of the comments and reflect on the number of persons that basically fit my profile. Age, I am 66. Retired, kids grown, seeking independence and freedom yet with acomfprtable income. Especially during these economic times. I live on a diminishing fixed income (due to these economic times) in seeking managerial positions I am told I am “over qualified”. I think what they are really telling me is that they would rather have someone younger. I am a retired Police Commander with a degree in business management, I have a vocational teaching credential and have been teaching for 30 years stateside as well as abroad. All curriculum related to law enforcement. For a long while Security was the only avenue I pursued. Now I would like to begin an Internet business but there are so many scams out there and half truths it is not an easy venture. I am without doubt a life style guru so an ebusiness seems the most logical arena at present. I want….no…I need to make money to supplement my fixed income. I need to remain active. I think that’s how we stay young. You have provided a number of reminders for me. Slow down, remain calm, stay focussed, make a plan, immplement the plan, follow the plan, reacess the plan, build slowly, always move forward understanding we sometimes take big steps but at times small steps. That’s OK as long as they are forward. Re the #1 question. While I am a life style guru I feel thatI am flexible enough to let the circumstances dictate to me. In other words should the circumstances provide an opportunity for growth they have also provided me an opportunity to make a decision. What a luxury freedom is. I look forward to your reply……RickPS: Yes I would be interested in your affiliate program

  199. Well now I know that a small biz with limited growth is possible. One fear I’ve had in starting something is that it will get too big and employees isn’t something I’m interested in dealing with.Another problem and this is even bigger than the above is that I don’t have a hobby to speak of that I can make money doing. You know things like jewelry making, soap and candle making, etc. So I feel stuck as to what to do in order to give myself a presence on line.

Hi Laura – Great stuff. This is exactly the reason I created ThePerfectBizFinder Program. It not only helps you define the right business for you but it teaches you how to organize it and get it underway immediately.

You’ll learn more about it in a another day or so. In the mean time, keep and open mind and stay with the Video Blog.

    Thanks

  200. Hi Steve I am enjoying the videos and look forward to going through the whole process. I have recently done another type of survey and basically hung up my MLM shoes as I realise I am going against my natural ‘flow’. I am looking at other ‘home based’ (can start while still in my job) businesses that better fit my personality and strengths. I have often heard the phrase ‘don’t worry about your weaknesses just develop your strengths’ but it didn’t make much sense to me as I was focussed on MLM and not on finding what I might be really good at, naturally.

  203. Thank you for the great information, Steve.  The video was direct and to the point and I had no problem identifying myself as a lifestyle guru.  I’ve worked in the Growth Maven arena for a number of years, owned my own business devoted to being a large corporation, offices, receptionist, etc., and at this stage in my life I just want to have a comfortable lifestyle, enjoy what I do and have time to spend with friends and family.  I am currently chaffing at being employed by someone else; it’s one of the most difficult trials I’ve had to endure.  I desparately need to start my own business again soon.

  204. Sir Steve,
I am a lifestyle Guru with room to entertain my Growth Maven. I know that my success will entail some of the attributes of a Growth Maven, but my intentions are to keep a nice and balanced home and personal life that entails using my own passions and gifts that I share with others for myself. I appreciate the opportunity that this survey gave me to acknowledge this aspect of myself. Thank you for your time and expertise.

At this point in my life, I am more concerned about living my own lifestyle…I worlked in a huge organization and have an MA in Organizational Management.  I have done consulting in the training and recruitment arena,  but these days, my dreams involve work that reflects my values and that fits into my lifestyle.  (My recent Peace Corps experience influenced me significantly…)  As S. 212. What I am reminded of, particularly noting all the Lifestyle Gurus and those who want some bricks-and-mortar with their home-style, is the medieval “family business” idea, which is basically what I grew up in. These are basically mom-and-pop, or just pop, places where the work is mostly done alone, but customers occasionally stop in and wares can be sold outside the “shop”. And a lot of these shops included living quarters behind or above (something I’ve always been drawn to but never achieved). Some shops were large enough to have apprentices (besides any children within the family) who learned the how, moved into journeyman status to make their own livings, and on to master with apprentices of her/his own. How similar does this basic scenario sound to what many here have expressed as a hope for their futures?Anyway, I appreciate the process you are leading us through, Steve. Thank you.

  214. Steve,Greetings from St Louis.  This was a no-brainer — I’m a Lifestyle Guru  (altho some aspects of the Maven appeal to me).  I had much more difficulty with the previous choice — Entrepreneur or Proprietor.  While I believe my personality and abilities favor a role as Proprietor, I don’t really have the depth of knowledge or experience required.  While I’m a good manager, and allocator of resources, I’m not accomplished with leveraging such as an entrepreneur — I’m certainly not a natural.  So I have a bit of a dilemma.  I can envision beginning as a proprietor and later assuming an entrepreneurial role.  At heart I’m  prob a proprietor, but just not sure i have the requisite expertise to begin a business using structure appropriate for that perspective.  but thanks for clarifying some of the distinctions.

I  still wound  give to charity and organizations if need. but LifeStyle GuRU give me  lot of free time to do other things. it give me freedom!

  216. Hallo Steve,I have been working as a lifestyle guru all my life up till now. But I have not been able to make money on what i am doing. Anyway I have a strong conviction, that I will not fit as Growth Maven, all though I see advantages in seperating work and home, in order to get the feeling of relly beeing free, when I not working. On the other hand I think I too much into the lifestyle way of living as it is. I and that is the style that makes me confortable, if I could only find the contentmen of doing something I like, and earn by money, also meaning beeing rewarded for that. Saying that what I am, what I do is so good that I earn a good and rewarding living by beeing and doing that. Thank you for what you bring up Steve. It is very good.

  220. Hi SteveI’m definitely a life style guru. I teach and coach and something that these distinctions brought to mind is an awareness of my ‘guruing’. My coaching is non-directive and I facilitate clients be, do, have what they want, however they want. In my teaching a srength is raising self-esteem, confidence and awareness of the role of an optimum state for optimum performance. You’re video has alerted me to a fairly strong bias in my approach, which doesn’t really take account of the Growth Mavens amongst my students-those who will most probably thrive on stress and deadlines (even though the majority don’t!) I’m going back to the draweing board and giving this a bit of ‘reflection time’. Thanks. Warm wishes, Julie

  221. Very insightful. I am a Lifestyle Guru with Growth Maven tendencies. The survey definitely points out how I want to structure my business. Some formality and structure to continue growth but having the casual atmosphere of home. There are some major corporations using this idea already – Google, Apple, Micro Soft just to name a few. Thanks for the eye opener.  //Ron

Now I realy am curious as to what comes next in finding my perfect business fit.Reguards, Sam

  225. Like several others, I’m a mix. While I have a strong preference, overall, toward lifestyle guru, I strongly prefer to have an office and staff. I don’t think this is a huge diversion from LSG, since my vision is a staff of 3-10 in a nice office where we all get along well and maintain a friendly, informal environment.I also like the idea of growth, but am not interested in a large organization with 100’s of employees. I like the idea of partnering with other entrepreneurs to build a network of smaller businesses – helping others earn a great living.

  227. I’m definitely a Lifestyle Guru, but may want a little more structure than the survey suggests.  I might like to live over the office, for example, and spend time in meetings, etc., outside my home.  Interesting to consider.  I’ve done both.

  228. Hi SteveThe BizFinder Reprot is the most valuable information I have come across in a long tiem. I can’t say thank you enough. I work in a part of the world where there is a huge need for coaching and mentoring programmes for lifestyle gurus. I am looking for Joint Venture partners who would be willing to attend a showcase event in September and would really love to be able to introduce your work to my network. The biggest challenge I am facing is that in this part of the world there is not enough internet connectivity, knowledge of applications and tools and access to online payment faciltirs for me to create the “lifestyle guru” business I want. So I am now in a “Growth Maven” position that I desperately want to move away from but have to use the non-profit organisation I formed to teach and train people to take over from what I’m doing. Please visit my blog if you have time and let me know whether you would be interested in partnering with us in any way. Thank you again for this incredible video blog and for sharing your expertise so generously.

It is my understanding that this is not only possible, but happening everyday. Will you program show how the acheive this level of success? I like the sytle of delivery you have. You seem to be genuine and the content you provide is down to earth and direct. This is the approach I have used in my entire sales career. I genuinely wanted my customers to be able to produce a better product and be more successful in their business. 235. Steve, the information is helpful for clarification and perspective, just one more step closer.  lifestyle guru is mine. I am curious, but believe that most people fall into the Guru catagory-am i right? You mentioned donations- is this a non-profit organization, is there not a program cost to purchase or how can a donation be made?Kim

Hi Kim – Thank you for your comment.

Yes, indeed many people at this stage and see themselves living life as a Lifestyle Guru. I think this is probably because so many people are disenchanted with employment and the work place and the sacrifices they make in terms of life quality. It is quite natural to dream of that 20 step commute and being there for your family 24×7.

However, I also suspect that secretly, perhaps even subconsciously, there lurks a Growth Maven within many. This is especially true when you learn that you can be a Growth Maven without sacrificing life quality (what a concept – huh?).

While I enjoy working from home I can also manage large enterprise-class businesses with offices and employees all over the world.

I teach you how to do either in ThePerfectBizFinder Program. You’ll hear more about in a couple of days.

Regarding the donations. My team has invested years of man-hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars creating ThePerfectBizFinder Entrepreneurial Strengths Survey system. The resulting information makes this system far and away the most powerful system for assessing and establishing a business or vocational match that has ever existed. The popular 4 quadrant systems do not even come close.

I decided to make this powerful system and the valuable information it provides available to you free of charge to help you see that I have something powerful and unique to provide you in ThePerfectBizFinder Program.

While you are under no obligation to do so, I welcome your donation to help offset the extensive development expense we’ve incurred bringing that technology to you.

If you feel that the report has provided you value and would to offer a donation, I would welcome it. There are links along the bottom of your Entrepreneurial Strengths Survey Results.

Thank you again for your kind encouragement.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts about ThePerfectBizFinder Program.

    Sincerely,

    Steve

  240. I don’t want an empire. I just want to make a decent amount of money that will allow me to travel first class or business class to any destination in the world, whenever I want. – at least  $50,000 per month.

  241. Steve, I’m definitely a Lifestyle Guru. I was sure of that before taking the survey however I still found it helpful and actually comforting to see it in black and white. I think part of the real benefit to this series is that fact that it IS a series – it keeps the information in front of me and is pertinent to what I want to learn/know about myself. I think it’s also extremely helpful by allowing people to identify what they want to do in life – whether it’s a home-based business or something else. The stark reality is that not everyone is suited for a home-based business and it’s better to know that before investing tons of time and financial resources. I’m enjoying the series and thank you again for providing it.Christie

  242. Hi Steve. Thanks for the second enlightening survey. I am a lifestyle guru.As a side note, I find that working from home requires me to be more disciplined in my routine so I have to start my day in a timely manner, dressed to meet with a client on a seconds notice, no time to clean up and figure out what to wear. In other words, in some areas, I approach my home business as a job, as if I were working for someone else. In fact this discourse fits nicely into my e-mail/calendar time.So far so good.Thanks.Fredrick Reiner

  243. I like George’s remarks- He doesn’t want an empire, just $50,000 (at least) a month.   When I started working for the railroad I was on the “extra list”.  You had to learn various jobs and be available to fill in for vacancies, vacations and times when extra man power is needed covering three shifts per day.  You usually knew a couple of days, sometimes weeks in advance when you had to work. It was like living a lifestyle guru’s life in a growth maven world.  SInce then I’ve had several positon on the railroad the afforded me some level of flexiblity with time schedules and duties. It was they only way I survived 30 years. I’m retired now and want to totally be the lifestyle guru.  But as the old saying goes- “there is a time and place for everything” I believe having a place to get away from the home to “conduct” business is the preferred situation. I’ve set up such situation where I have a storefront office, now I need to find the perfect “by appointment” business.  I’m really looking forward to what your program has to offer.  Thanks

  244. Thanks Steve for your insights, I am a lifestyle guru, no surprise! I am currently online doing 4 courses re: social networking, attraction marketing, copywriting, etc. I know my personality type, my skills, and my strong points, what I don’t know is what Company to join. So far what I have found is a front end of networking, building relationships, which I believe is necessary. What I haven’t found is the “product” that brings in the income that I feel passionate about and able to do. Help!

  249. Hi Steve, I have to tell you that you are providing one of the best services I have seen online yet. I have been working online for a few years now and have always known that I am a lifestyles guru and that I am too non conformist to be a growth maven. I get bored too easily with the “same ol’, same ol’ ” every day. The information that you are providing here is giving me definition and drive to continue doing what I do, which is similar to what you do, in that I just want to help people. I currently work with the Mentoring for Free group and I am an allround internet/network/affiliate marketer but have found great pleasure in helping others to learn to do what I do and enjoy the great many rewards that working from home can bring. I will be directing as many people as I can to your service simply because it is outstanding. Congratulations on a job well done and I definately look forward to every instalment.

And I need other eople to communicate with. Like my job now, I have many colleagues who I see most of the day’s a week at work. I love to work from home some times, but also like to have contact at the office. When I work as a lifestyle-guru (completely from home) I will miss that. How can I resolve this?

  262. Steve,I’m a lifestyle guru. When I taught, I was a growth maven, always on committees and working nonstop to continue building lessons and more. Eventual burnout caused me to change course. I went into vision therapy, still working certain hours. Yet working with one person at a time was more rewarding. Currently, in mlm, and not finding fulfillment after 3+ years. I got into it for one reason, and see much emphasis to be in it for another reason. Yes, unlimited income would be great, yet that’s not my primary purpose for doing anything. I want to help others learn and be successful. And I will want to have meetings and occasions to to make that happen. Now to find the actual avenue to doing that.

Posted By: Lona | 12:35 am
  263. Well go figure,I immediately thought of myself as a growth maven. Then I did the test and it says I am a lifestyle guru. (but close, 3 to 2).I think the differentator for me is not the quality of lifestyle outside the business but the quality in the business (Great clients, Independence, challenging and creative work, service to the community).Which leaves me with the question, am I really a Lifestyle Guru or a Growth Maven who needs to face some hard truths about growth?

  264. Hi Steve.  Thanks for the very informative video.  However, I got a little confused while answering the survey.  From the survey, it seems that I am a Lifestyle Guru.  But isn’t the point of building big emperors is to have more time with family – Isn’t everyone’s goal to reach Lifestyle guru? I want to build companies and I want a lot of employees.  However, I don’t want to be working at my companies . . . I want my employees to do that (such as the President of the company).  Which ones am I then?

    Hi Tam

    Thank you for your comment.

I agree that many people are drawn to the description of the Lifestyle. I think it is in part because the very nature of working a job generally carries so many unfavorable lifestyle connotations.

I honestly believe if people knew they could build and run wildly successful Growth Maven businesses without sacrificing life quality then more people would choose to. I suspect there are more ’secret growth mavens’ than we see represented in the comments.

I can’t be sure but it seems many answer in a way that contrast with what they dislike most about their experience as an employee.

Regardless, rest assured you CAN build a growth maven empire and not sacrifice your lifestyle. And my program will teach you how.

    Thanks again for you comment.

    Sincerely,

    Steve

I knew “Life-Style Guru” was what I was after before you supplied the catagories.  I do appreciate your presentations.  I gathering advice from several sources at present to help be become that type of guru.Still tweaking that website, but I plan to make it my money site eventually.  I welcome your comments on it.

  266. Hi Steve,
Most here seem to follow the 2nd calling, that of the Lifestyle Guru.  I also fit in this category.
Truth is, that is what makes the most sense.  Who amongst the others would be readily exposed to you and your course?  ;-)
After being out of the employee/employer work force for over a year now, I am finally getting excited that some things are coming together.  What usually confounds is having a clear cut “map” of what direction to go and how to build it.  I am hoping to get that insight from the information I glean from you.
Thank you for puting this together and allowing me to be a part of it!

  268. Hi Steve,Again I have enjoyed your videos and took the 5-question survey.  L-G 5 all the way at 60 years old!!  BUT, what has been most enlightening is reading through the responses and the great information you can get from the insights and questions being asked!  Previously I thought I was the one not understanding or “getting” what building an on-line business was all about, even though I have built several successful offline businesses over the past years.  There seems to be a huge gap between the desire that everyone has to build an alternate income vehicle and the ability to find trustworthy methods to build a legitimate ongoing business.I think you have struck a chord here with your direct, honest approach about finding out about your own strengths and weaknesses first in order to weed through all the hype and mis-information that is so prevalent in all the “NOISE” on the internet. Look forward to your continuing education!Doug

  269. I am a lifestyle guru, I’ve been in the construction field for twenty years, I feel I have served my time. I wanna work smarter not harder. I now have an online business but it seems impossible to get it off the ground, all I do is spend… Help haha

    I appreciate your comment.

Several of my businesses have been in the construction field. In fact I know two of them are still doing quite well nearly 25 years after I sold them.

Your comment begs a question for me.

How did you go about deciding that online business is the right business for you?

Not that it isn’t mind you.

But I find a lot of people in the online / internet start-up game chose it because it looks like a really cool, ‘easy’ way to make money but they never really consider the factors that actually make the experience of success possible.

    Without them, success remains elusive.

People do not fail for lack of knowledge, skill, desire or effort.

They struggle because they lack command of the key inner resources necessary to generate the success they desire.

This is the very reason I created ThePerfectBizFinder Program.

The program is a powerful step by step system designed to teach you how cultivate and develop these resources to find and create a business that aligns with your individual entrepreneurial DNA and delivers the lifestyle and financial rewards you want.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts as you continue through the video blog.

    Thanks again for your comment.

    Sincerely,

    Steve

  274. Thanks!! Great video! The questions were very helpful as well! According to my answers I’m more of a lifestyle guru. However I did answer A for 1 or 2 of the scenarios. I have to admit that some of the descriptions for a growth maven were appealing. Is there a way to be a little of a growth maven even if I’m more of a lifestyle guru?

Posted By: Angelo | 11:55 pm
  275. I am a lifestyle guru and thank-you once again for helping me have that insight.

I am curious to know which approach has a higher business rate of success. The person that starts out having the idea of creating a business from a lifestyle approach or the one that starts out knowing they want to have a business that grows into a corporation? How many do you think change midstream from a lifestyle to a growth maven and can they still achieve success doing that?

Thanks again for sharing this information. Many responses I read here talk about a 21 page email can you tell me about that and if you still offer it?

I’ve been a lifestyle guru for 25 years, then went through a painful divorce, lost everything, and now  working for a great non profit, but it’s got me trapped in the office mode again, and I can’t stand it!  Love the work, hate the hours.  I’m looking at some home business opps, but can’t afford another failure since I’m 54… tough to start over again.  So, I’m eager to see what else you have to offer. Thanks,Greg

  283. No surprise here, I am a lifestyle guru, I would love to have a national brand, but I would still want to do it in a laid back way. Probably not a good mix.  But would be just as satisfied having ample time to spend on my future ranch.  That is my goal personal freedom.

  284. SteveI knew I was a lifestyle guru before I even took the survey. I was B on 1,2,4 & 5 and both on 3. This is very good and clear infromation and is of great value in clarifying where I am at. By the way, in the perfect biz strengths survey, competency 4 came out all wrong for me. I could not relate to it at all, whereas I could to the other 5 competencies. Suggests to me that the answers to some questions may be too heavily weighted. As you know, the answers to some questions are a toss up for us.Thanks heapsIan

  288. Steve,I am a lifestyle guru for sure. Thanks for all the great info. My first question can I spread myself too thin by having multiple passions ? I am a songwriter/performer with aspirations of earning a living from my creativity. I have collaborated on recordings, all of which made some money, but nothing large or consistent. I also have a tremendous interest in contributing to other fathers and have begun a non-profit organization with a few other men. It has been suggested to me that there might be a business for me in this area too. All the while I am trying to keep my family afloat while my day gig downsized to 3days per week and doesn’t look long for the world. I am also working at night and off hours selling financial serviceson a commission basis. Other than that I have nothing much going on… Thanks for everything. Mark

I hope to move in a more positive direction with the help of your videos. You can read my story on my website if you are interested. I look forward to learning a lot of valuable information from you. 293. Steve, 5 for 5 on the growth maven side. At 61, having started Mills and Company in 1978, I think most of the ego has been excorised out of me. The residual is the passion and commitment to an unmet market need. It just happened to be in a big broad deep space. Again, great job on outlining such a clear path of understanding and perspective. Hope we can catch up sometime! Thanks, David

  295. Hi Steve, I am a lifestyle guru, but also realize the tremendous discipline it would take to work from home without a set schedule. I like the interaction of a workplace, but not the pressures of living to someone else’s schedule. I like to rely on my own knowledge and skills to do my work, but also like the ability to bounce ideas off others. I appreciate the videos. They are short and to the point, planting thoughts and ideas to mull over without the need to sit at the computer for a long time. I look forward to the rest of them. Thanks, Ben

  297. Dear Steve, I am a Lifestyle Guru, at present, as I was introduced to Internet Marketing just a couple of months ago.So I am still feeling my way around, pacing the floor, animated screaming, and working out all the recommended sites to be “Seen” on. At first, I was just overwhelmed, and considered walking away, and leaving all this technical jargon to the more experienced, and I would stop making a fool of myself. You know what? I AM STILL HERE! And I am not going away, I am going to win!I love my product way too much to NOT get it out there. My 5 children have left home now, in great careers of their own, and all married. My husband and I have free reign now. My husband is in full time employment, and I have a  Natural Therapies Practice, that I work from home. I meditate every day, run groups, and I have an over 40’s walking club together, with 20 members. My husband and I love to get away camping out in the bush whenever we can, and we enjoy gold fossicking while on holiday.

  303. Excellent process of thinking … only hard to admit to oneself with the answer this gives me. I am taught to be like a Life Style Guru via education, but want to be more like a Growth Mavon in a lot of respects. Q1. I like having Great clients with challenging and reputation-building projects, and a casual relaxed environment. Q2. I like “b” but with more work challenges instead of all the house work. Q3. Definitely “a” … making a difference in the world. Q4 & Q5 both are “b” for me.

  304. Dear Steve, I am definitely a lifestyle guru type. I am a new solicitor in Japan. I have just completed internship a few months ago. I am also appointed to serve as a family court jury as of this April.  Having seen my internship boss for 6 months and my current circumstances all in all, I do not think I can dream of being a Growth Maven, either. For solicitors’ job in general, it is more important to serve this community I am in well rather than dreaming of international bussiness.  Being a non-English-native speaker, sometimes it takes me a while before understanding the video but I enjoy videos. Thank you. best,Edel

  305. Hello Steve , I am 100 % lifestyle guru. I am a new Japanese solicitor and also a family court jury as of this April. As such, it is more important to serve my own community well  (which appeals to my mind) rather than dreaming of building international network. During my internship, I  used to observe my boss as a typical lifestyle guru.  He has his home nextdoor to his office and shows up at around 10:00 a.m.  He wears tie and formal  jacket only when he goes to court or some formal places. His income level is quite high.   I have dreamed of being a lifestyle guru before taking a legal state exam and I have no difficulty in concentrating on work /study at home when it is necessary.  thank you for this video. I like liveliness of the video.sincerely,Edel

  308. Hi Steve, definately a LIFESTYLE GURU…woo-hoo. YA, describes me to a tee.!!!46 years old with 2 kids kind of puts me in that position, but I think I would always be like that.  When I worked for Telus for 14 years, I use to say to co-worker’s, wouldn’t it be great to work 10-3, Tues.-Thurs.,?  Now that’ pretty much what I do, although I do need to increase the cashflow…!!

  310. Confronting the differentiation between Growth Maven and Lifestyle Guru has been insightful.  If I had answered these questions 15 years ago I probably would have answered as a lifestyle guru.  In the meantime, my results show that unstructured work won’t get the real world results I want.  Also, with the way the questions are worded I had to answer all five as a Growth Maven.  Hmmmm…  It makes me think I’ve been carrying on as a reluctant Lifestyle Guru for 30 years.  It’s time to get going and take my 3 year old business to ever higher levels of service, impact and success.

It appears that I am a lifestyle guru but that is probably due to my time on the planet.
Lfestyle is more important to me but lifestyle will only work if I make money!

Hi Steve:I am definitely a lifestyle guru.  I feel more comfortable working barefoot and in a tank top.  I came as a graduate electrical engineer to The US from Europe at age 30 in 1968.  I have since spent more time in the US, got more familiar with English, had to change from the metric system to the diverse units you use here in the US.  I had a bad staph infection in 1999 that laid me up for 14 months.  I had to learn how to walk again after about 2-1/2 yrs in an electric wheelchair.  Three years ago , the three of us colleagues started a new company in the HVAC business.  Late last year, I programmed three HVAC systems that we bid with the Public Service Center of a nearby city.  That was the first time for me in that field.  Well, we got it going, even though our main HVAC guy walked out before we even started with the project.I wish your bizfinder system was available years ago.  It would have kept me from stumbling into places I didn’t fit.  Theoretically, at 70 I am probably too old to start looking for a new business, but then who knows, I may still have a few more productive years of useful life left. That reminds me of the time I was laid up for months in a nursing home, paralyzed from the neck down.  They sent a psychiatrist into my room that asked me:”How come you are not depressed?” – I answered:” I have a life to live, and I am not giving up.”I manage a small mobile home park, do a lot of volunteer work, and I wouldn’t mind supplementing my social security check with some small business venture.

  332. Hi Steve!
I´m definitely a lifestyle guru. For many years, I have dreamed about being my own boss and being able to work from home. I´ve had the “boss from hell”, the “co-workers from hell” and I deserve better. Also, I like the idea of deciding when to work instead of following a time schedule. Thank you Steve!

I’m suprised by the results and thankful for the test. I know that I am on the path I need to be on. Enjoy your day! Lynda

  334. Hi Steve, I`ve been passive for a while – Couldn`t see how I should use the survey. Now I`m back, and I`ve decided to go on working with you in the 21 days step-by-step System. This is very interesting, I answered B to all 5 questions, and it feels good to be recognize myself as a lifestyle guru. It fits perfectly into my goal / dream: A big house where I live my life and have my business. Thea

  335. Hi Steve,I have to admit I was surprised. I always thought of myself as a lifestyle guru type, but that could be because of my lifestyle so far! I found myself really considering your questions and answering truthfully, and it turns out I’m in fact a growth maven.. well, as my business theme is ‘Grow Your Own’, I guess I’d better get on with it :-) Thanks for your invaluable help. All the best, Linda

  336. Dear Sir,  Yes this information is indeed vary valuable. I have found myself to be in reality a growth maven while I was focusing on home business which now looks pretty silly for me to do. This is one class that has benefited me more than all the degrees I have put to gatherHope you will continue.Thank you again for the terrific insight you have given meRavi

  337. I am most definitely a lifestyle guru. I have tried that big business atmosphere and all – came away after a big break down and refuse to ever go back. As I am starting my busi ness your videos and emails have really been helping me to set things firmly in my head.  Thank you so much – I feel like you give me confidence and I really appreciate what you do.

  338. It turns out that I am a Lifestyle Guru.  I have finally found out who I really am.  For years I have tried to be what others said I should be.  But now I am living my dream my way and I am loving it.  I had already decided this before I got your recent video.  And it is nice to know that my style of working has an offical name.  Thanks for the validation of my recent choice.

  339. The interesting point here is that some of us exist outside the box that Jeff Lander envisioned.  Professionals executives and entrepreneurs with significant disabilities often find that working from home in a virtual colaborative setting enables them to create, build and run larger companies.  The use of assistive technology empowers those of us with limitations to compete on a level playing field effectively.  I offer this because it identifies the manner in which we operate an international business and in which we advise and advocate for others with disabling limitations who dream big dreams and turn them into reality.   Other than this out of the box point both yourself and Jeff are right on target.Regards,Owen

    Hi Owen,

Thank you for your comment. I agree. It has been my experience that with the application of so many “new” (although some are not that new any more) innovations, there is really no limit to the size of the business, company or organization you can run from home.

And I believe it is getting even less limited all the time…

In fact, I believe that the motivation for doing so increasing all the time. More now than ever in fact.

Thank you again for your informed contribution.

    Sincerely,

    Steve

  340. You really have a pleasing and direct communication style, Mr. Little. :)
I am definitely a Lifestyle Guru, which I could tell even before I answered the five questions.  This experience in your program has changed my life.  It’s opened doors in my mind, and lifted roadblocks that I’ve been fighting with far too long in my attempts to reach the success I want in my life.  I want to live my best life, and I thank you for opening my horizons enough to show me the way!

  341. Steve,So far…Thanks for everything you have shared with us.  It was a clear cut 100% Life-Style with my answers.I stumbled onto your site by accident sometime back.  I liked the welcome video introducing the survey.Someday, I may actually work up the time to take the full course.  Right now, I have been looking for a very long time for a quality affiliate program that not only offered a good return for my marketing efforts, but that I felt comfortable and proud to recommend to othersThanks again and keep up the good work!

  342. Steve,Although the first survey shot me a bit of a curve this one did not.  I do seem to have a couple of growth maven tendecies but I am solidly a lifestyle guru.  The only reason I have ever wanted a large business was so I could have someone else do the stuff while I had time for my family and life.  I finally decided that was not going to work because the bigger the business got the more I had to do.  That is what pushed me to something on the Internet.  Something I can build to an almost autopilot system.  Ok, maybe not autopilot but certainly something I can run from anywhere I want to be and will keep going without me if I want to take some time COMPLETELY off.The information you have been providing has, and I am sure will continue to be, very helpful. Thanks,Clyde

  346. Hey Steve,  Thanks for all the info so far. I am definitly a LSG. I really want/need to spend more time with my wife and children NOW before there is no time left to do so. I have been working for other people my entire life and have absolutely nothing to show for it. Unfortunately I have not been able to figure out where to begin when looking for a business that I can work from home that gives me a legitimate chance of getting myself out of the hole and routine that I’m in. I’ve tried numerous MLM’s that have not panned out but I know deep inside that there is something out there that will afford me an opportunity to make the kind of money that i will need for the FREEDOM and lifestyle I am looking for. I am a firm believer that woking smart instead of working hard will get you alot farther in life. I’m not sure where we go from here but I am looking forward to it. Thanks!!

  349. Hi, According to your survey, I am a lifestyle guru and a great manager. Have been in business on my own but failed many times. I am a multi talented proprietor whose future looks bleak. I have got into deep trouble financially, with no income, businesses closed and stuck in an asian country, being an asian, with no way to get out as everyone looks at my age of 47. Where do I go from here?

  350. Steve,I honestly want the best of both. that was my result. Does that make my thinking rich according to T. Harve Eker? If the fruits follow in all respects I will feel satisfied.

  351. I want to have it all!  I don’t think it has to be either or.   I’ve got a model in mind that can give me both intermingled.  Sometimes I make my appearance a the office downtown, bustling with life.  Other times I take care of business from a comfortable home office, or mix a little business with a nice relaxing vacation!  That’s how I roll.

Thank you for the insights!  It’s helped me look at things from a different perspective.

  352. Heh Steve, it appears at the outset I’m a ‘Growth Maven’ with interminglings of a ‘Lifestyle Guru’. I would like to get the business up and running and then use that freedom to building something else. Wonderful listening to you and you great insights. I am currently building a business in Asia and hope to benefit from your perspectives.

Posted By: Damien | 10:07 pm
  357. This was a little disturbing, because there are elements of each that appeal to me, but given all the factors involved (age, experience, demands on time, etc. none of which were described or treated in the survey or to date in the program) I find a preponderance of lifestyle dominating my thoughts.  INteresting way of aiding discovery.  SGE

  360. Well, I’m a lifestyle guru, more or less. Although the descriptions didn’t match up exactly, that’s closer than the other choices. I’m definitely connecting with the need to have other people on board to take care of other aspects of the business, but I certainly don’t know how to get to the point of being able to pay them.

Your approach is very Human and with sincerity.Money is tight in these times. So before I part with My hard earned bucks. Great info and awesome presentation style. Clear, concise wisdom for all of us entrepreneurs. Without question I am a Growth Maven. I see myself building a billion dollar business that provides fulfilling careers for like minded individuals and makes a positive impact on society. I have learned to not be driven by making money but to be driven by making a difference. This is why I dream big. Because I know that I can make a positive impact on the world.

  382. Lifestyle is my style … and it’s good to hear that’s OK … many others try to tell us that it’s not a “proper” business. Also, I’ve realised that a lifestyler has the same potential as a “manven” to make an impact on the world.

Posted By: Steve | 7:04 am
  383. Hi Steve, you are really simplifying the process of finding the perfect business.  I came out a Lifestyle guru.  This material also comes at a very appropriate time, where I’m 30 years old and have been laid off in May this year from my job in the Corporate world…in a strange way it was refreshing.Deciding on becoming a proprietor or entrepreneur, I believe is more difficult.  I have diverse interests in fields such as education and training, real estate and investments.  Now in the education and training field for instance, I want people to recognise me as the brand, which leads me to believe I need to be quite involved in these businesses (which are small-time ventures now).  But at the same time, I want my material or system (once it’s well thought through and developed) to benefit as large a part of society as possible…which makes me think of options such as franchise systems, building a learning institution comprising of specially selected educators (either employees or shareholders) and internet marketing systems.  So proprietor or entrepreneur? it’s more difficult to identify.  less clear cut than the growth maven vs lifestyle guru decision.Keep up the streling work.  This material is sure to benefit thousands of people.  There are not many people out there who is willing to share themselves with other people as you are doing now, and I’m sure you are improving the quality of life of many people all of the time.Best regards,Ashraf (South Africa)

  385. Hi Steve,I’m a Lifestyle Guru, no doubt.  I am already working from home as an image consultant and also distribute dietary supplies, and coaching people in healthy lifestyle.  I had a shop/studio in the city, but this did not give me the freedom I wanted.  I moved my business home and is happier than ever.

Posted By: Nina | 4:32 am
  386. Hi Steve,    The information that your gave me in this video is ok but lacking in substance (ie I am still not sure what the business is). Anyway  I came out as a Lifestyle guru. I felt that you were very confident in what you were saying but its like all the other websites that I have looked at over the past month.  Some say they give the information for free and then slug youy a postage fee that is over the top.  I figured that if 20 people make the payment then the person providing the information will get a big chunk of change.   As stated above I have been searching for some time and am getting very disappointed about the idea of working from home and enjoying a life style that involves my family.  I was in the Royal Australian Navy (submarine) for 23 years and most of that was away from the family.  I then became a ambulance paramedic and earnt a degree in health  science but that took its toll on my family as I had to study every night and missed out on y family time.  As I am getting older I was thinking that a work from home idea was the way ahead.  Thanks for your time, regards steve.

    Hi Stephen,

Thank you for your comment. I’m sorry you found the information disappointing.

From what you wrote it seems as though you were looking for me to give you an answer when instead what T am teaching you is how to find it….the right business that is.

I do not believe there is a one size fits all business opportunity available to anyone. Instead, finding and creating a business that will deliver the lifestyle and financial success you desire will be the result of careful consideration and planning.

There are a limitless number of opportunities for you all of which can be tailored in some way to meet your personal lifestyle goals.

Through the Entrepreneurial Strengths Survey, the 20+ video lessons and 20+ email lessons you’ve either received are will be receiving I will be helping you consider a number of elements vital to finding the business that will really deliver what you want. But you are going to have to do the work.

I have specifically designed the system to guide you through very small steps so you are able to invest what is often a limited amount of time and make steady forward progress.

A more expedient path would be to invest in ThePerfectBizFinder Program which organizes the information in a more consolidated manner.

Either way, I look forward to helping you find your perfect business get what you want.

Please let me know how I might help you further.

Thank you again for you comment.

    Sincerely,

    Steve

PS – I would also like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation for your service in the Royal Australian Navy. I hold all veterans from every service in the highest possible regard. I am sure that you have given of yourself in ways that many cannot imagine. Thank you

  389. Hi Steve,I turned out to be a Growth Maven, no surprise to me as it has been my dream for many years. I even dream of a limo as my ideal car, since about the age of 11 or 12. I do value the family time and will need to strike a balance but growing a large business and providing jobs and making a difference in the world is what turns me on! Iv been running my IT business almost 10 years and seem to be far from my dream. While it is an accomplishment to still be around 10 years down the line, I sometimes wonder if it has been worth all the stress and long hours. It is only for the grace of God that I am still going and knowing that He has called me to be in business that keeps me here.I eagerly await your reply.Blessings,Chris

I’m most definitely a Lifestyle Guru – I knew it too!  But it’s good to get confirmation – as someone who is nervous to risk and take ‘that first step’, I’m always second-guessing myself, so I appreciate your direct advice and approach.  (Oh, I’d love to buy your programme, but with the ex-rate as it is between ZAR and USD, it’ll have to wait – yep, even though 37dollars is not much… it just can’t happen right now!  But I’m keen to try it!  Thanks for making it so affordable.)  Keep well. 395. I am a lifestyle guru, answering “B” on all 5 questions. However possibly 30 years ago, I would have answered differently.   I have worked in large organizations and today at age 68, I would prefer just to do great work in my  home office, working my hours, etc.  I also prefer to work alone – so perhaps that will be a problem as you say we must work with others. And also perhaps the reason I am not making any money with my present home business. Will continue to follow your program.  thanks, Laura

My background as a coach, coach trainer and front of the room trainer for a number of “personal growth” companies has always suited me well. 400. Hi Steve. It seems that I am a lifestyle guru. However, the  distinction suggested by the questions seems to be rather black and white, because I found some elements of growth maven in my mindset as well. Let me illustrate: I like to be organized and finish my daily obligations within a fixed time frame; I am not ready to limit my objectives to an income which will bring me only more than a comfortable life, or accept that my work will not make a huge difference in the world. However, I find this video stimulating because it really made me think more about the nature of my goals.Thank you :)

  401.  Hi Steve! Thanks for the great info. It’s very easy for me to figure outwhat I am looking for. I am definitely a lifestyle Guru. I want to do things at my own pace, but I do know I have to do the work to build a business. My problem is, I feel like I have the perfect home business, but since I still have to work full time to make ends meet and not sure I have enough money to start up marketing, I am unable to make any progress finding clients. Do you have any suggestions for this. My business is defintely a one on one type of business where you can either get to know people, or have people find you and learn from you,  it’s awesome, I just have to be at that ol’ full time job so much, I can’t make enough time for the commitment to do what I need to do for my home business. Thanks for your insight. – Vincent

  403. Life style guru without question.I just want to be able to live comfortably on a consistent basis without worrying where the next meal is coming from.I am involved in a feast and famine type business and lately it has been all famine.  As a one man operation it is almost impossible to compete with the big boys  yet I can do about anything they can, and even better, but I don’t have the capital to market like they do and I don’t make promises to clients that I can’t deliver. On top of that the economy is such that folks just don’t have the funds available to be able to utilize my services or they just don’t understand the value of my services to them in the long run.

  404. Thanks for the survey and the follow-up comments.  I was initially attracted to the lifestyle guru however find the growth maven is the true me… once you helped me realize I didn’t have to sacrifice my lifestyle to have that dream.  I look forward to learning how to put the systems into place to have it all!

  408. Lifestyle Guru 5-0! I see that there are a number of pre-Boomers here. I’m 68 and still feeling young. I’m trying to shut down one business I’ve been about for most of 40 years. I wanted to retire, but can’t now because of what happened in the market last year. I don’t figure I have time for the market to restore what I lost, so I need to be in business, but, hopefully, a new business.

  409. I got ‘lifestyle guru’, but who wouldn’t?  Appears to me that the survey is a bit skewed, not all areas are black and white. Given a choice of hanging out with my kids and working in my underwear or being a slave to my job, the choice becomes obvious.  But there does exist, in me, an unsatisfield hunger to find my real purpose, that thing I was meant to do.  That’s why I’m looking into the PBF program.  For most of us, I believe, longer hours wouldn’t be a problem once we found something we were passionate about.   The exercise did let me know that I would not sell my soul for a business nor a career, which is good to know.  But I don’t see an allowance for a willingness to go the extra mile, to pull the occasional all-nighter to do whatcha gotta do.  OK, so now, the kids are on the bus and I’m gonna stop playing with email and maybe do a little work before I go take a walk.

  410. SteveI am a lifestyle guru that fits well into working for Growth Maven business’.  I work the website leads for a major Real Estate company and have a virtual Internet team of Real Estate Agents.  Although part of my job is to hold training sessions most of my job can be done from my home office.   My goal is to slowly add other RE companies to my business but never hold an 8-5 in the office position again.  I love working from my home, have lunch or coffee on the spur of the moment and travel with my office consisting of a Blackberry and laptop at my side.  Yes I work on the whole more hours than the average person yet it is worth it to work in jeans and tee shirt with my dog at my side:)Thank you for your insight in these videos.

Definitely a lifestyle guru.  I’ve been trying for over a year to get a business going and have made no progress.  Thank you for your straight talk and common sense.  I am 76 and had started to feel I will not make it, but listening to you, I have decided to find out EVERYTHING you have to say and look forward to future videos and step-by-step instructions.  Guess I need someone to explain, esp. about “building a list”.  I have had no progress there.  I’m really great at joining things though – hope this will be the last one!!!!

  417. Hi Steve, I like your style.  I’ve heard everything you’ve presented before over the years but put you in the top 10% as to the way you present it.  I’ve been a lifestyle guru for the past several years and have national clients and a few celebrities, too.  But the majority of my business is right here in my home state of Florida.  Sometimes I work on weekends, sometimes a take weekends off.  Sometimes I work around the clock.  Sometimes I watch movies and eat all day.  I love the fact that each and every day doesn’t have to be a carbon copy of the last day.  Building a business takes work and patience, but if you enjoy what you’re doing… it’s almost like you’re breaking the rules that enslave so many people today in the work-world/workforce.  Keep up the good work.-Jim

  419. Steve, Very thought provoking. Even though I am starting my new business from home I have visions of it growing regionally, then nationally. I invision being independently wealthy enough to enjoy my time. I’d like to maintain some of the freedom of time I enjoy now so choosing between A or B was quite interesting.I used to co-own an architect office of 15 people. It was quite challenging, but not exactly what I wanted to do I discovered. I am now writing a new business plan to provide human resource management, temporary architect support, co-employment and co-management to regional architects of the midwest. I thought it more fun to provide something back to my profession and help as many as possible increase their profit margins than continue trying it with my own little company! Thanks.Bill

  420. Hi Steve, definitely a lifestyle guru.  Folks never believe me when I say I’d rather help someone and have that satisfaction than all the titles in the world.  Somehow I think that fits with my introverted nature.  I like working with people one on one and making a difference.  I’d also like the ability to do that from whatever location I choose to be at the time.

  425. My tick for the statistics: LSG.By the way, I can’t help but make a comparison, starting with “entrepreneur = Growth Maven” and “proprietor = Lifestyle Guru.” That comparison makes me realize the equations are not necessarily true. Its more of a Venn diagram overlap thing. But I suspect the overlap is substantial, especially in the first case, and if that is true I am curious to understand why. Maybe a teaser for later …

i really believe everything happens for a reason. receiving your emial on sunday was perfect timing. the surveys are very helpful.  have so much experience, education, creativity but did not have the business component to bring my valuable information in order to be valued by others so after being laid off i enrolled in a start smart program (10 weeks of courses, business plan etc.)
my real website will be published in one week. in the process of pitching a tv documentary project i created and co-produced. the project is called owning the zone and features some very interesting high profile athletes and experts. also working on a book. i am also working on my masters in leadership through royal roads university in victoria bc. all this but how to turn it into real time profit.
trust all is well with you and yours

  445. have not started anything yet . just in the ‘thought’ processes. i cannot decide if I am a lg or GM. It depends on the direction i want to take my biz idea. If i want to keep it small or starting out small i will prob be a LG but as it grows and my business practices are more well-defined i will prob transition to gm, asi would like to have a pediatric development center but will probably have to start it part time and maybe start it as a daycare first before i can develop it into a half-day preschool in a facility with employees and a franchising/affiliate company.

The best advice I can give you is to invest in ThePerfectBizFinder Program. It was specifically designed to help you resolve this very issue.

And, I have a secret to share with you. Go to your survey results page and make a donation (even a small one) and see what happens. I promise you’ll be glad you did.

  449. I looked at the first question and knew that lifestyle gets it for me but then we’d already determained that the people are the important thing for me so it all fits.  I’ve tried big business and it’s a RAT RACE for me and I knew in my heart that owning one would be no different for me than working in one.  I want to work at my own pace and get the job done.  Yes I tend to put things off when I work at home but that is a problem that I have to work out.  I know that I can concentrate on life style and still keep enough structure to get my work done.

  450. hi steve –
thanks so much for your energy, insights & encouragement. after 20 yrs of working in a high-powered creative field, i decided to go it alone 4 yrs ago and do somewhat the same via my own business. while i’m extremely happy with the personal freedom & know that being a lifestyle guru suits me best, i am at a pivotal (low) point right now. focused on my immediate need to make ends meet, i find it a bit difficult to envision my dream scenario becoming a thriving reality. so i am very grateful for your “do what you love” point of view. as shakespeare said, “to thine own self be true.” looking forward to more illuminations via your other videos and taking the next step towards creating my own version of “… and they all lived happily ever after.”

  456. Hi Steve, What a beautiful soul you are! I have loved watching each video..it is your straight forwardness..directness…Oh I am definetly the life style Guru type…. The test I haven’t completely read..I was very surprised as to the complexity and impressed…Therefore, I admittedly feel bad about having not taken an honest look at each question….some of the answeres are therefore not really me, but terrific clear definitions to my answers. It is absolutely grand being in contact with you this way.  Thanks for setting up this program. It is my way of connecting with home… USA.  Being 65, means being retired..double punkt.. not much growth room here in Germany.

I have worked out of my home for the last decade and the idea of re-entering the structured office environment is very off-putting to me. I see many people thrive there but am happy to pursue my own choices. What I need help with is knowing where to direct my energies. I look forward to learning more!

  459. It was half and half on alternate questions until question 5. Seems like with people who are both growth and lifestyle the ultimate question is the last one because it’s three of the same letter no matter what. Soo…it’s growth maven for this kid. Or maybe lifestyle/growth since I want to have a limo drive me to a job that I don’t have to get dressed up for and my potential employees can be non-traditional as well. Business can be done anywhere and in any way for the day or hour in question if a person is life-style/growth-y. More companies should have it where people don’t go to work, they go to gooof around with a purpose.

Instead of the way so many others have (in some cases) insisted we should  or just made difficult for us to follow our own path. 464. Hi Steve,I was 5 out of 5 for a Life Style Guru.  I have been looking for a very long time for something that I could operate from home and make a decent income.  I am a retired Law Enforcement Officer and would like to supplement my income without having to go and get a J.O.B.   I have tried several things, but have left me broke and empty.  I have become a skeptical and getting to a point of knowing who to trust on the internet.  I have spent soooooo much money that I am about ready to give up, but don’t want to because I know it can be done, I just know it.  I have enjoyed your video’s and you are starting to gain my trust.  Trust is a big issue with me since I have been taken advantage of badly with rip off artists.   So thank you for the insight you have provided me so far and hope that this will be the guidence I need to finally make something work and regain my confidence and hopfully recoupe some hard earned and easily lost money.Thank you,Bob

Hi Steve – I’m enjoying reading the comments on your blog and received my Perfect Biz Finder Report.  Still trying to digest all the information.  I am 60 and if I’d taken this survey in my 30’s, would have answered these questions totally differently.  Today, however, I realize your assessment of my strengths and weaknesses is accurate.   I am a Lifestyle Guru, with 4 out of 5 answers being “B” (question 3 is the only one where I am on the fence – can’t decide).  I’ve written 3 children’s books and loved the experience of writing about something I know (piano lessons) and working with an illustrator, long distance, online.  I also teach piano as I’m retired after 33 years working for an airline.  Loved that too, all 33 years.  Teaching piano is great and I do still require the income but the experience of writing kids’ books made me feel alive.  Of course, now I have to sell them (these are self-published books through AuthorHouse).  This is where my problem lies.  I am not pushy or demanding, not a go-getter, front and centre-type.  I don’t want to be another JK Rowling.  I would just like to write and sell enough to keep doing it.  But promoting and marketing my own books seems like a monumental task to me.  Something is making me take a step back now that they are published, instead of being gung-ho to move forward.

  468. Hi Steve,I am a life style guru through and through.  Thank you for this powerful and freeing insight.  It has freed me from feeling inadequate.  The message I was getting after years of trying to have my own business from home for years, and spending lots of money to no avail, the message was in order to succeed in any business, one has to be an enterpreneur. Now I know it isn’t so.  That’s why it is so liberating! Thanks again,Mary

  470. Hi Steve, i have been having alot of dreams in my nine but starting it up is a big problem. I am a graphics designer working in a publishing company but getting little pay. I get some businesses from out as a side business but it sometimes takes long to come by. I then thought of starting: Drug Store, Wholesale Grocery Store or something that can bring the cash on a daily basis. I have the building in my small town far from where i work ie 367kms. But the main problem i have is the start up capital, i thought of getting a small loan from my bank and use it. From all the videos i have watched i believe iam a guru. Steve what advice can you give to help me start?

  472. Hi,Your video’s I can’t follow at all because the video has problems. From time till time the movie stops for a while.  Also writing the text here is going slowly. What is the matter, the reason?

  473. Finally got to the video.  Found it useful in confirming what I already suspected.  Now to just find the right vehicle!!

  474. Neither of these lifestyles have interest for me. Each is too extreme.  I would prefer to work with others while accomplishing tasks but have no interest in the employee/employer relationship.  I would prefer working sometimes in an office environment and other times outside and alone or together depending on the task to be accomplished. I am service oriented and would like a solid customer base or core clients and grow additional clients around this core. I would enjoy having a business that has residual income to support times when the work I wish to do does not produce adequate income but sets the stage for a larger income when it is completed.  I prefer a less formal setting but not so informal that play interferes with work.

  475. It appears from your suvey that I am a lifestyle person. I say this because I want to get to be very good at affiliate marketing. As soon as I get the money, I will order the affiliate handbook from rosaline. As I am 69 and retired and live on a fixed income, I very much want be able to make money from home. If and when the opportunity should present itself to become the other,I will cross that bridge. I thank you for this info, it is very enlightening and informative. Any suggestions you have from this note would grestly be appreciated. THANK YOU AGAIN

  477. As soon as you made the distinction, I recognized that ‘Life Style Guru’ is my goal. I am totally turned off by the grandiose goals of the Growth Mavens – who seem to be the majority of those trying to teach people how to build a successful business. Not too surprisingly, almost everybody who has responded here identifies with the Life Style Guru – it is my opinion that the wording in the video and the survey is such that the results could be expected to be highly skewed in that direction. Besides, anybody with the Growth Maven mindset can find plenty of ‘Gurus’ to feed and build it. It is those who are not motivated by gigantic growth goals who are needing the help. You sure do seem to be the one who is offering it!

  478. Steve . Thank you for all the good stuff. I wish you all the best in your business, you give a lot and you don’t ask for a lot. Because of you and people like you, you help a lot of us see the road ahead a lot more clearly . I am starting to build my ultimate business. I want to be big but i am a life style guru, who would not be.Thanks again from an Irishman in America.

  479. This was a difficult survey in that there are desirable elements to both a & b options in each question.  After digging a bit in the brain, I came to the Growth Maven result by a narrow score of 3 to 2 (and it felt like it should be closer to 2.5 to 2.5!).  It would be great to see a bit more information about this survey, just to be sure the results I got are definitive.

  483. Hi SteveThe information you are providing is very helpful. On the survey Lifestyle Guru the statements reflect having family at home. My children are all grown and on their own. My dream business is a little of both. As an introvert I enjoy my privacy, but I also enjoy working and talking with like minded people.  I thrive on brainstorming a problem to discover a simple and innovative solution. I love the “aha” moments. All in all I more lifestyle guru.Thank you for your thought provoking information and I look forward to your next video and report.

  488. I am thoroughly enjoying these videos and surveys, Steve.  As a person who has been asking “Why am I here, what is my life purpose?” for years, I’m hoping to be clearer on the answer.  I’m 56 and I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I do know that it does not involve me working for someone else in a corporate atmosphere (something I’ve done all my life with great dissatisfaction).  Looking forward to the upcoming exercises and videos.  Thanks!!

  489. Hi Steve,Well the test shows that I’m a lifestyle guru but one of my goals is to leave a legacy business for my children and grandchildren (don’t have any yet but looking forward to it). So how do build something lasting for my posterity and not become miserable in the process?

  500. Thanks for the valuable information, Steve – I’ve never seen / heard this distinction before. My answers were B to all 5 questions, and it gave me much relief because I decided some time ago that I want to become an internet affiliate marketer, and that fits perfectly (as far as my understanding goes) with the needs of a Lifestyle Guru.

  501. Steve – I would love to have a business that I could manage from the beaches of the world. I think that you are really sharp to offer this message in this format.  And the video is good in that it provides a window to get to know you.  I, like others viewing you at this moment, simply need purpose and a direction.  I have no doubt that I am a “Growth-Guru” :-) / because I like to grow by personal development media, and seminars, and I know that I want to have residual wealth AND live the lifestyle guru way.  Chris L. Wow! wonderful video! You have a great voice and excellent style or presentation.Crisp and clear videos. My situation…Iam an indeoendent recruitment consultant, hence a proprietor for now. however I do dream of creating a larger organization in the future.
My current situation is that of a lifestyle guru as it does allow me the freedom needed at this point in time. My worry is that would I get too comfortable in that role to be able to move on to being a growth maven when the time comes?
I would appreciate your guidance on this.

  512. No surprise here– lifestyle guru– but interesting to start from here and then structure your business, rather than structuring it how  you think it “should be” and trying to adapt to it.I’m in the midst of some downsizing and staff changes, so this is timely.REALLY looking forward to getting things going again in this difficult economy.Thank you.

  513. Very interesting and eye opening. I went back and reread my survey and that combined with this information really opened my eyes. I have attempted to run small businesses before but with mixed to poor success. They fact is I have been trying to create somebody else idea of success. I have also been involved with other coaching programs that attempted to develop my beliefs and pushed to id my weaknesses in oreder to build them up rather then play to my strengths. I can now see the flaw in that approach. Even more insightful is that I can now see that it wasn’t so much that I failed but that I didn’t structure the business model properly and I spent most of my time trying to convince myself I could and would enjoy aspects of the work that I truly didn’t want or have the skills to perform. I can see now the type of people I need to enlist to fill those needs and allow me to excel at the things I am passionate about and try want to be doing. Thanks Steve, I will be passing this information on to some colleagues that are having the same issues.Jeff

  514. No big surprise – I’m a Lifestyle Guru all the way.  When I started my first business (gourmet foods) the marketing company I hired told me to “go big or go home”.  Meaning, to make any real money I would need to hire lots of people and just be the face of the company.  Instead, I kept a few key clients and put the business online.  I did enough people management when I worked in high tech.  The idea of going back into a corporate environment gives me the heebie jeebies!  Now I prefer selling other people’s “stuff”.  Zero overhead, my own schedule, etc.  Keep the good info coming.  Brenda

  515. Dear Steve, This is a good exercise. I’m living as guru style but it’s a toss out between the 2 styles. With the choices given, I’m of maven. To stay at home in the descriptions above is not on my want list. To go out of the house, travel, meet people, influence direction, make decisions, work contracts, go to events, present, teach, balanced with time for my family, friends, for social activities, reading, health.   Its a first time in business. I’d say a business owner do whatever it takes. Donald Trump once describe he focused 7 days a week for 5 years to restructure his business, Lee Iacoca was going home when with Chrysler.  How would you describe a healthy lifestyle when commited to business growth?

  516. Hi Steve:Thank you very much for another great video and the insights it provides. As the overwhelming majority here I am a Lifestyle Guru (what a word…) and it did not come as a surprise….At 62 I seem to fit in here well ;) and I would like to build a business to give me additional income to fincance my hobbies and a “roaming” lifestyle, i.e. travelling the world in our very own RV and small plane.Like many here I have tried to find success as an internet marketer, but so far my experience has been very frustrating and I have lost quite a bit of money in that process. With your help I hope to find the “right” business for me and to be successful in it, preferably a business I can do from anywhere in the world, not necessary an office or a desk in my house which means it needs to be highly automatic with irregular interventions which I can do while travelling.I shall follow your guidance through this bog and the videos and purchase ThePerfectBizFInder program you offer for a very reasonable investment. I am curious to see where I will be in 21 days from now! :) Thank you again and to all here a very happy, peaceful and successful year 2010!Cheers,Juergen(Costa del Sol, Andalucia, Spain)

  518. 5 out of 5 for the Lifestyle Guru. I spent from 1994 to 2002 working hard too hard as a Growth Maven. I built a decent company but was miserable. I shut it down and started building my Lifestyle business and have never regretted it (although some more $$ would be great)

I love the flexibility of doing new engineering projects, teaching, helping with managing home matters and doing community work in the form of Christian based ministries: youth work and feeding the poor are examples. Thanks again Steve and I am keen on obtaining  thePerfectBizFinder Program as soon as I have the money to purchase it.God bless you and keep on giving the way you have.Trevor Headley from the beautiful and sunny island of Barbados.

  523. Steve…this is very cool stuff. I like the content and your style. I am a lifestyle business. What is the best tip you have for marketing a consulting service like mine in an economy that is struggling? I am in the corporate coaching business.

Posted By: hawk | 5:15 am
  524. Dear Hawk,  I come from the corporate coaching business too and my advice is to develop an online presence, if you haven’t already.  Find your unique voice and get your name out there via articles, blog, a professional website,  and even a free “report” or ebook.  After trying to do things my way for 2 years I now “get” that you must do what your competition is already doing, and I’m starting over from scratch. It’s tough going if you’re easily distracted but there is room for all of us.  Just follow the leader(s).  Steve is probably the best example I know of sharing so much FREE and valuable information to develop trust first.  We get what we want so he gets what he wants.

  525. Hi, Steve and all the others who were gracious and brave enough to post their comments……..   I was so happy to see others had an “overlap” of the two things.  No wonder I’ve had such a struggle really getting my newest business off the ground.  Thank you Brenda (above) for your admittance of trying to do things your own way for two years.  This is pretty much where I’ve been….resisting the inevitable.  I have been recently getting my OWN Videos made and my Blog up and running with Links of course to other people like Steve Little.  Now that I have met Steve, I will put a Link to his teaching on my Blog as well.    Why can’t someone be LG and GM with the advent of the Internet?     I feel I can still have a lovely home office with a few employees OR outsource a lot of my “work” of placing ads, posting articles I’ve written, and other daily “grunt” work stuff while I keep teaching, Blogging, making Videos, and writing articles?     Having CD’S, DVD”s and E-Books of my work, (all bent on helping others become the best they can be- which in turn does make the world a better place),  and making an Affiliate Plan available so those who like me would also promote me and my business…..so I  WILL make a FORTUNE.  :>)  Not original I know, but others have done it, why not ME?  I I help a lot of people, than I can be like Jim Rohn, who passed away on Dec 5th, last year.  After 40 years of speaking, writing, travelling etc.people are still buying his products from his website.    I honestly feel that because of the InterNET, people of good influence can become know much quicker……….and make their fortunes faster than ever before.  In that sense I am a Growth Maven, and have seen other examples of an Internet Guru who made over a million dollars in a 24 hour period…..Yes it took others to help him do it, but not a big office and hundreds of employees.          I am really looking forward to the rest of Steve’s Videos and I will probably take his course too……….but I need to take ACTION of what I already know to do.                 Blessings to all of you persuing your dreams,                          Dazzling Dolly Lutz

  530. Hi Steve,I answered all the questions for the lifestyle guru.  I have to say that I was not surprised once you explained things.  I found it very comforting to hear you say that lifestyle guru’s weren’t limited in income just because they choose a home based business.  I think this is a limiting belief I have had.  Going to get rid of that one today!  I appreciate all of the work you have put into this and I’m looking forward to your next email and more learning.  Thank you and may all of your efforts be blessed.    Sincerely,Jacqueline DeWylde

  531. I am a proprietor and lifestyle guru.  I am recently retired, but a few years ago started on my post-retirement career: teaching sewing/knitting/crochet/quilting etc. out of my home.   My challenge is that it is all time-based: if I want more income, I need to work more hours.  Alternatively, if I want a break, I just cut back on the Google ads, and my next month is much calmer, albeit with less revenue.  I also spend time on a newsletter on those topics, and creating things using those skills.  I’d like to get to the stage of more income with less hours.

  532. Steve -  Thank you for these videos. I’m definitely a lifestyle guru, though I prefer not to stay in my jammies or sweats. A nice comfortable pair of jeans suits me fine. Now, if only I could get my business idea in motion… First things first.  One of the downsides of being in (employment) transition is staying on top of things while trying to find the funds to get started.

Every problem on the highways is only an idea away. Thinking can save lives NOT all the usual information put out daily of Speed, Drinking, Seat belts and gobbledegook, thinking the right way will bring about brilliant results.

Advanced driving behaviour is assured with the use of roadlites as they give better illumination on every road, making a major contribution to road safety.

Easy understanding and simple information that is clear and seen in front of motorists at all times, showing the true width and alignment of the road ahead is especially effective in foggy conditions, keeping drivers away from the centre of the road risking head on collision, in fact safer roads in all ad versed weather conditions.

Are you a good driver? Why not become even better than an advanced driver, by becoming a super skilful intelligent road user. The driving test is only a starting point, the learning process has begun you are now on your own, unless you seek inspiration, wisdom, knowledge and assistance from a master with over 55 years experience and know how, to gain fun and enjoyment and make driving more pleasurable with the highest standard possible you can find this at <no-1-driver.com>

Enhancing visibility without street lighting can save billions on the energy consumption, and if street lighting was placed correctly and of different shapes and sizes at road T junctions, cross roads, roundabouts with colours to inform the road user, this idea would also enlighten motorists and be of benefit to all road users.

Congestion, carnage, money and time can all be overcome with creativity NOW.

The fear of night driving is beaten, leading with roadlite vision and simplicity.

As I being noticed does not interest me, but my ideas should be used to make
a difference in the world for the future generations yet to come.

  535. Hi Steve,
I am 65 years old and I love to work with people to bring quality in life and joyful presence. I give seminars and personal (tele) coaching. From your survey and your last video I am for sure a lifestyle guru. I just had a little mistrust  to myself of keeping myself in the comfort zone. I am now clear that is is my choice out of free will. Thank you for your clear and it-makes-sense approach.
    Very much indeed!

  536. I value your communications Steve, thankyou!
It’s great to have what I already do, and also think, defined.
I’ll be selling my fulltime business this year to “retire,”  but will no doubt land myself into something equally stimulating & challenging, but on a much smaller scale, so it’ll be great to know which direction will most suit me while I’m choosing my next move.
    Thanks again,
    Cheers,
    Liz

  538. Hi Steve….. why i can’t have both.  I find myself 50% as a life style Guru but i want the office with employee’s who said I cannot arrive at the office at 11am and leave at 5pm and then do a few hours at night before bed.   If I structure my day and employee’s effectively why can’t i have both.  If after 10years i have worked hard to build the success why can’t enjoy it a little with a bit of life style because at the end of the day this is what i’m aiming for.

  539. I am a Lifestyle Guru.  Been seriously pondering taking a class as a LOA Life Coach and not sure what to do.  My survey keeps pointing towards coaching…. The class is a lot of money and I don’t want to be taken again!
Your videos are great, straight forward, and easy to listen to.  You are a nice looking man too.

  540. As a LSG I look forward to hearing you expand with the knowledge that will allow me to keep comfortable in that gandra. My disability effects my mental abilities as well as physical…but that’s not going to stop me from achieving my goals with your help.
    Thank you for the clarification

  541. Hi Steve,

I thank you and appreciate the time and care you have given to create something to help others grow. Hadn’t it been free, I would have never been able to dive into it. I am a Lifestyle Guru and your two questionnaries have confirmed what I deeply feel about myself. I will follow you with interest. I live in Bulgaria, have two children and am now looking for a way out of full-time motherhood into something that would help me provide for my kids and myself, as well as make me feel useful to others.

  545. This series is so far turning out better than I thought it would. I really hate it when people market their products with lines like ‘I’ll hold your hand’ – whether in black and white or between the lines. I also really hate it when people put such lines in the subject header of their e-mails as ‘Why isn’t it working out for you?’ or ‘Do it the way the rich and famous do it’. It’s patronizing. I have financial challenges, but I am in many ways content with my life as a whole. My finances do not define my life or my identity. I know what it is to be on unemployment – and be able to eat like a princess or even a queen on 20-30 USD a week (I guess I’m dating myself – have no idea what today’s prices are in the States – have been living abroad for nearly 20 years). I know what it is to have a SERIOUS financial challenge – and feel rich because I found a new phone service that permits me to have unlimited minutes to call my family on the other side of the ocean whenever I like, to have the satisfaction of telling my parents, who are retired and living on a fixed income, that now they don’t have to deal with the phone bills or connectivity problems anymore because I’m going to be calling them from now on… And I am looking forward to the day when I can teach my friends here in my developing adopted country how to attain financial freedom. And I know people create empires doing this. And I am looking forward to the day when I will be able to help them take their financial life to the next level – maybe with one bit of information, maybe with a more comprehensive approach, depending on where the given person is – and know that I don’t need the money I could earn from that. And that I will have time left over just to think and hang out with my cats and whoever else the Lord brings my way. It is indeed not about money, it is about freedom. So yeah, I am definitely a lifestyle guru – only a growth guru in the sense of personal growth and nothing else.

  546. Hi Steve,
The strengths survey was helpful and came out as I expected. Todays five questions also helped because I had changed my vision and goals since I retired from the cleaning business. I had been a consultant to the contract cleaning field for over twenty years. When I was young I went for the long range high power goals. I didn’t
realize I change till I answered the 5 questions. Thanks for offering the course.

  547. Right now as I get started, I’m a lifestyle guru but I can see myself being a growth maven as I gain experience in running my business. First I have to determine if people will like and purchase my product before I can grow.

  548. Hi…

Tell me, did you ever get a ‘thanks’ from anyone other than a ‘lifestyle guru’?
To choose ‘growth maven’ would mean that you’re  partly retarded…

Not really a fair and unprejudiced contrast between the two!

    Gary

PS  Let me be the first ‘growth maven’ to say that your videos and surveys
were inspiring….!!!!    Let me take my first step forward and extend my
businesses credit to the limit!  Hooray!!!  Let’s go get em!!!

Hi. I’m in a sort of unique position, I’m 59 year old retired US Military (Navy) living in the Philippines. This makes most Business beyond my capability, anyway for now I’m sticking around to see if there is something that will match situation. I have been living a comfortable life but  I’m at a point I need more to do plus the extra income would be great. So far the info and surveys have been enlightening wished I had known some of this earlier. The last survey showed I’m a Life Coach. Which fits my lifestyle exactly.

  551. I’m a Growth Maven. For sure, I want an empire with people who get the job done (leave a legacy of quality above all) and that will give me the freedom of choosing to spend time alone or with family if and when I want.
    Thanks, Aracelli :)

  552. Steve,
Thank you for the clear distinction.  10 years ago -growth maven, today – lifestyle guru.  I enjoy your videos that contain distinctions.  Once you have a distinction there is nothing to remember.

  553. Hi Steve!  Thanks for the great video and survey.  Like many others that have posted, I am a Lifestyle Guru.  As I am pretty new to this, I found the information very timely, helpful, informative and direct (eg, not too ambiguous, wordy or over the top).
Thanks Steve, and look forward to hearing more from you in the future.

  555. Steve,
I turned out to be a lifestyle guru. I was delighted to read in the responces that at least a couple of people are at similar places in life that I am. I have for the most part of my life taken what ever JOB that was available to survive and raise my children and 2 grandchildren. I have dabbled in creative crafts (etching windows,  crochqeting rag rugs, and others) ; been involved with various multi-level businesses. There has never been much joy in any of it because my focus was always can I make a lot of money with it. I have always pursued things (jobs) with my family in mind. I need to learn this or that so that I can teach my children that life doesn’t have to be a struggle and you can take time out to travel and enjoy things, and have meaningful relationships. However with the work now and play later attitude I’ve never had a later.
Thank you for what you are doing. It is much appriciated

  556. Hey Steve,

I found the survey results to find me exactly as I saw myself making me curious as to what else would result from your insights.

    Video #2 was interesting… Something I had never given any thought to.  My results were: 1. B / 2. B / 3. B and then A / 4. B / 5. A =ing A Lifestyle Guru.

I’m now interested to see what else you bring to the table.

  557. I fall somewhere between the two.  Although three A’s whould suggest “growth maven”, I have a more balanced view of life in believing that we work in order to fund a good living and do not live to work.  I prefer a more formal structure in order to differentiate between my work and social life and like the idea that when I leave for home, the business continues to function in my absense.  I think it is important to have proper office space away from home that projects a professional approach to your work but do not subscribe to working rediculous hours to prove a point.  Standard office hours of approximately 08:00 to 17:00 should suffice unless pushing to meet a deadline or periodically attending functions.  I would like to be financially independant but do not feel the need to leave a legacy.  Thank you for your advice and assiatance, it is sincerely appreciated. 558. I am a life style guru to the extent that I want to create an idea and brand myself as the reason to be involved with the company. I have help grow several businesses which were floundering into multi-million dollar companies. I started a granite shop which grew to several million a year in business and then sold. I am now developing a cabinet shop so that we can grow as the economy comes back. I have also started a network company which will grow to millions of dollars over the next five years. I like to have a smaller feeling in the company, but love to take on the challenges. Family have been involved with me several times.

  559. Mr. Steve
I am based in India and am 50 years of age.
I would like to set up my financial markets (stocks, commodities, forex) trading business in the next 1-2 years and quit the job I am presently in.
It would be a independent business that I can handle on my own.
The other steps would be building my trading website, writing some books, training people to trade etc.
    Thanks for your educational videos.
    Regards.

  560. 100% lifestyle guru!   but way past the kids now its the grandchildren!!!   My problem is I have so many things I am passionate about & my personality is one that has difficulty staying focussed.  I’m the bigger picture person with heaps of ideas but lack the ability to follow thru!   Or when I do it becomes too complicated & frustrating I give up!
I like some of the others have settled for the JOB!  When I was looking for a career for a women which was teaching & nursing!!   I trained as a nurse! & have stayed there most of my working life!  I don’t fit in but do care about people!    Have tried MLM but that didn’t work for me & more recently affiliate marketing but the only people making money are the gurus, never made a cent but spent heaps!    I really do need help as I want to live on my lifestyle property with my 5 dogs, cats, chocks, go running & to the gym every day, travel etc, but have a business that I can work from home!
keep up the good work what you do would certainly suit me as I love to empower people & make them feel good about themselves!!

    cheers

  561. Dear Steve, I’m a proprietor/lifestyle guru. Steve, I’m 56. I’ve had enough of the rat race. I already work at home and I love it. I want my business to be built & run on almost autopilot. Mornings are for business then I have stuff to do and money to spend.
