An Inspirational Story You’ll Truly Enjoy

Opportunity is  literally everywhere.  Here’s an inspirational story to illustrate:

I have a friend named Charlie who worked as a mechanic for a Chevrolet dealership.  He’d worked there 10 years.   He loved working on cars, but hated working at the dealership.  He just figured it was part of the program though.  So, he went to work each day.  Enjoyed his work, made good money and was quote comfortable in life.

One day, out of the blue, the dealership closed down.  Overnight!

Really!  It was pretty crazy actually.

One day the lot was full of cars and trucks, people scurrying here and there in all departments.

The next day it was all gone.

No cars…

No trucks….

No people….

No shop….

Just an empty building and a big empty lot.

Can you imagine what that would be like?

You get up, have breakfast, kiss the wife and kids, drive to work…

And work is gone!

Well Charlie called me that afternoon in a total panic.  Honestly, he was FREAKING OUT!

“What am I going to do?”

“How am I going to tell my wife?”

“How am I going to pay my mortgage?”

I’ll bet you can imagine how he felt.

Well I knew I wasn’t going to do Charlie any good if I got caught up in his panic.  So I just started asking questions.

We had a long talk about what he loved to do most, what he loved most about doing it and how he envisioned the success he’d always wanted.

A funny thing happened.

As we spoke, Charlie realized he would never have had that success working at the dealership anyway.

I don’t remember how it came up, but one of the things we talked about was how friends and family were always recruiting him to tune-up or service their cars at home.  “On the side” so to speak.

He would do it to save them the inconvenience of dealing with the shop; dropping the car off and getting a ride and so forth.

He commented that he’d always liked that work the most.

As soon as he said it his face ignited with enthusiasm!

Charlie figured that if these people didn’t want to deal with the hassle and expense of dropping their car at the service shop, then neither did a lot of other busy people.

In that instant of inspiration, Charlie invented a whole new approach to the auto service business.

In less than 30 days he was servicing cars all over the city bringing the tune-up and repairs to them!

It was perfect for 80% of the needs people had.

His customers love it!…..And so does Charlie!

Charlie, in a van outfitted with tools and auto parts, goes to them,  home or office,  tunes or repairs the car and goes on to the next one.

He works the hours he wants, enjoys his days out and about, and provides a great value to his customers.

This turned into an enormously successful business almost overnight.

It wasn’t long before he was employing other mechanics to do the same and growing this business in adjacent cities.

And now he is negotiating the process to franchise his business.

Why did I tell you that story?

Because there is no reason what-so-ever you cannot be inspired like Charlie was.

Did you know that there has never been a better time to start a business of your own?

Don’t listen to the garbage you hear on the news. It’s bunk.

There are more viable opportunities for you to pursue right now today than at any other time in history:

  • Technology has leveled the playing field between you and well established big business.
  • The internet has matured to such an unprecedented degree that literally anyone can start a fast-growth profitable online business at minimal cost.
  • Home-based business has come of age and no longer carries the stigma of being more of a hobby than a business.
  • Corporations increasingly outsource key functions to smaller businesses creating an abundance of opportunity.
  • Professional people from all business disciplines accept that the days of corporate job security are gone completely.
  • Small entrepreneurial businesses represent 99.7 percent of all employer firms in the nation.
  • Over the past decade, small business net job creation consistently grew between 60 and 80 percent.

  • Small businesses employ 75% of all private sector employees.
  • Small business accounts for over 51% of the US Gross Domestic Product and is growing.

The one overriding factor that determines your success is you choosing the right business.

NOT JUST ANY BUSINESS WILL DO.

It has to be one that is perfectly matched to what I call your “Entrepreneurial DNA” in order to ensure success.

But just like Charlie, you’ll need help finding the right business.  That’s why I created ThePerfectBizFinder Program.

Great article, very inspirational.
It is really interesting how people built great businesses after they got fired from the company they worked for.
Another great example is Steve Jobs, who got fired from an Apple – From a company that he started!
After some time he started Next and bought Pixar and got back to Apple.
His own words:”Getting fired from Apple was the best thing that every happened to me.”
Isn’t it interesting how people are scared of getting fired or building own company, but once they get fired they are able to follow their dreams?

Great post Steve,
Many people who lost their jobs 6 months ago will tell you its the best thing that ever happened to them.  Because they started to work on their dream.  they started to put together a game plan and a sales process.  They were forced to start working for themselves, and they never looked back.  Others will tell you how unfortunate it is they lost their job.  And how they are now running out of funds and suffering.  They will have a very different story…
I think you offer a very useful, and very timely service.  I really hope lots of people set aside their doubt and really take your lessons to heart.
Thanks again for the post, you are inspiring.

Yes, Mr. Steve. My decision to resign from service and do something of my own was from your inspirations only. I made a licence for consultancy service, tried to associate with other consultants but I have not been able to win any tender so far. I love teaching, and sharing ideas to improve others. That was the very reason I started this business but I am not finding any success in it. I think I will need your advices and help. Thank for always being beside me in times of my need.
