What does personal success have to do with business success?
In this video I give you a simple yet powerful activity which establishes a solid foundation for personal success in finding your perfect business.
You may have heard the expression, “for things to get better, you must get better”. This means that the growth and success of your business is largely depended on your personal growth and the degree to which it delivers your personal success.
By completing the activity prescribed in this video you’ll gain a crystal clear understanding of what personal success really means to you, specifically from the context of your perfect business and how it is going to have to serve the success you want all areas of life.
Do it now, you’ll be surprised by the outcome.
Personal success is about knowing what you want.
I read a great quotation recently: “The first step to getting what you want is knowing what it is.”
Most people go through life seeking a ‘generalized’ vision of success defined by things like “more free time”, “more money”, “a nicer car”, “bigger house”, etc. But the majority of the time, even if they get these things they still don’t experience the success they seek. Why not?
Because they never really defined what success IS; what it means to them; and how attaining will serve their purpose in life.
Let me know how your NEW definition of personal success compares or contrasts with your previous (more general) one. Tell me what else you learned from this video and the activity I provided by commenting below.
Don’t be surprised if this turns out to be more challenging than you thought it would be. So many of the decisions you make and the actions you take each day are sourced by subconscious beliefs about what success is ‘supposed’ to be.
I am excited to hear your thoughts about the information I provided in this video lesson and am standing for all that’s possible for you in life and business.
Be sure to comment below and let me know what personal success REALLY means to you. Then share this powerful lesson by clicking on the “Like” and “Tweet” buttons above. They’ll thank you for it.
I’m standing for all that’s possible for you in life and business.
Sincerely,
Steve
PS – Let’s face facts here. Humans are just not very good at holding themselves accountable for ‘challenging’ matters like the regular disciplined focus on goals and objectives.
This is another reason every successful person you know of has at least one coach or mentor keeping them accountable and supporting their success efforts along the way.
Nobody…no matter how enlightened, knowledgeable or experienced…can generate success on their own. It’s my intention that you’ll allow me to be a ‘virtual’ mentor to you and that you’ll take my advice and use these methods and techniques to generate the success you seek.
Stand by for my next email which contains a link to your next Entrepreneurial Success Secret.

Interestingly enough the first thing that came up was
- success is not possible -
That almost made me not want to carry on but a couple of breaths later it started flowing. If anyone comes up with negative stuff I’d suggest keep on breathing and writing…
Success is doing what you like to do every day of your like. The mayority of people just learn to leave what rever life brind, with no meaning, wakeup, go work, take care of family and one day my dreams maybe would come true…..But whow? I don’ tknow. with that attituded never will happen.
Thank, you really making a point
It is eerie that the Jane above and I seem to be on a similar tract. my answers started out very differently than what one would ordinarily have. They start out this way, God, Godly, Jesus, spiritual Then go to financial, giving, independence, and helping others.
What an interesting and revealing excercise. After indulging in a bit of \tampering with the evidence\ I got very honest with myself and analyzed the results without trying to jusify them. Bottom line is that my idea of Success is evenly balanced between financial success and personal/spiritual fulfillment. Very much like Yin & Yang, the two are interdependent and inseparable for me.
Thanks, Steve. You’ve given me a great foundation to build on!
I learned that my desires are about the same as before. What I’ve learned is that I never have achieved these goals due to my own lack of focus, self-destructive behavior, and continous cycle of doing OK then failing. When I can focus with dedication, I’ve been the best among my peers at what I’m doing, even if the job is not a goal of mine.
Fascinating! I learned that I am truly a “feeling” motivated Person…and motivated by what draws out Love from me! (Now I can see why many approaches never worked with me!…truly fascinating! ….Here goes….just as it came out!
Success Is:
Feeling Joy!
Feeling Good About It!
Can’t Wait To Share It!
Making A Difference!
Feeling Enlivened By What I Do!
Success Is Wanting To Help!
Success Is Feeling Fulfilled By What I Do!
Success Is Loving Others By What I Do!
Success Is Enhancing The Quality Of Life!
success is finishing the game.

Hi Steve
Well, I guess I’m the one with the stubborn mind. Wrote lots of things down, but kept bumping into a wall/void like this is as far as you go with this so turn around and go back.
Hi Steve,
I really liked the presentation and the results were very different to what I imagined – all to do with using my gifts & talents in helping, lifting up and being of service to others, plus a page of other things I want to do.
It’ll be interesting to see how this can translate into business success- if it can.
Steve,
This exercise is very similar to another one in which we visualized what life would be like if we had success (without defining success). Then we removed all the subjects, and replaced them with \I am\. What is amazing to me is that the first things that the theme which surfaced after 6 tries was a peaceful and serene life. Each time I did the deep breathing, the first thing that came to my mind was a further refinement of the previous phrase.
The first phrase was \no alarm clocks\, the \only sunrise and sunset\ and so on, until peaceful and serene and after that all my thoughts were visual. At that point, I decided to stop. What I think this is telling me is to me success is freedom. I would be curious to know where this takes me.
Surviving a 1980 motorcycle crash that left me brain damaged and half paralyzed turned my life into one big goal seeking venture. My first goal were to walk, talk, drive, rid myself of the suicidal depression that followed my crash. I’m almost ashamed to reveal how long it took me to realize that it’s impossible to feel sorry for myself if i’m helping others.
For years, another goal was to talk with someone without either pointing out letters on an alphabet board or having to repeat everything. In 1995, I started doing standup comedy. My goal went beyond just being funny. Another goal was to talk slow enough to be understood. Winning a Laff-Off in 2000 at Giggles comedy club in Seattle happened to me partially because I managed to slow down so folks could understand me and partially because I’m blessed.
As my web site reveals, my comedy career has evolved into other types of speaking. I am very excited about the opportunity you are extending. I have been diagnosed with cancer, so I have another goal I will be focusing on as I strive to get everything from your videos that I possibly can.
Thank you for your live and let live spirit.
It was interesting to see that, with some slight changes, I came up with the plans that brought my family and I to Thailand and dissolved when we lost everything due to putting our trust in the wrong people.
We are still in Thailand but I want to develop a clearer idea of how to make progress. One of my criteria for success was being able to release the regrets i have for wheat happened before and restart our original plans with a lot more savvy.
I came up with:
1. My own money
2. helping others
3. build my dream home
4. live where ever I want
Pretty cool exercise!
Success for me is financial freedom. Being able to CHOOSE to work and not HAVE to work. Generating enough passive income per month to pay for all of my expenses. Honestly if all I had in bills per month was $100, then making $100.01 in passive income would have allowed me to realize my dream! This is what I will accomplish…
Mr. Steve,
Wonderfull!!!
I am hoping for best moves and advices… thanks
Hi, Steve. Have just completed the first exercise. It’s really simple, but gets overlooked because of that. Mine were all to do with feelings/emotions, none on material things. Looking forward to the next lesson. Thanks.
It really is simple! So why do we complicate life?
It really is simple! So why dont we keep it that way.
family, life, happiness, health, service to others.
i am frustradted all whate i ever wanted is to be a good designer ad designer and am tired of searching am a very creative person but am so tired that am even tired to create a chance for me evry time i try to complete a thing or an idea it get stolen
Success to me is being happy and enjoying life. As well as enjoying the business I’m in or pursing.
I feel success for me would be acheiving whatever my life’s purpose
is meant to be. It seems to gyrate around teaching people to become
individuals, who focus on the good that they can do. To help each
other obtain the skills needed in building a safe, secured, and purposeful life.
For years I have worked mainly to put food on the table and being able to pay the bills. But deep down I’ve always wanted to do something I would be happy doing and would be excited just getting up every morning to be able to do. Being happy while being financially secure means so much.
Steve,
I thought that I knew what I would consider being successful was until I tried to define it. As a new cattle rancher, success comes in many flavors and opportunities. Each phase of the cattle business has it’s own sucesses. Each little sucess builds on the previous success. As I see it, you become more self confident, which in turns aids in your continued success at the next obstacle that you need to encounter. For me, being successful is being a “Good Cattleman”.
Steve,
Great exercise.
I did not even realize that there were no dollar amounts in my success until I read other people’s who had put dollar amounts.
That was a big surprise.
Success is: Freedom, sailing, being wherever I want to be when I want to be there. No schedule, golf, not having to work
Knowing I can travel and make money from anywhere
having a great home to return to
Time to meditate and be in touch with God
Time to stay in shape and ENERGY to enjoy and and have all the things I want
I’ve always associated success with a certain feeling you would have and now after doing the exercise I now know where I need to be to feel that way. When I can accomplish that the monetary things will be a given.
It seems easy like a dream but sounds realy focused. I have worked on this goal and I hope to go with it and get it realized.
Great quote, great advice
Howdy Steve!
Earllier; nothing was impossible. As a sea-captain in the Swedish merchant navy I joined the education to become a bachelor of laws while still working at sea close to Mobile in the Mexican gulf. I finished my studies with the same speed as my pals studying full time on the university.
So?
Now? Now nothing is possible. My self-confidence is down to zero when Steves offer reach me. May be that offer is what I need. May be Steve’s trumpet-blasts are what I need.
Great lesson. My success is taking action. thanks for the prodding.
Doing your first exercise, I found that I had two main traits.
The main one was helping other people by being a successful leader and the second was having freedom of choice.
I found the exercise quite eye-opening.
Thanks, Steve.
Thank you Steve for your inspiring service desk. To me success means being in harmony with all yourself: spiritually; physically; mentally and being connected with your immediate sorrounding: your picture in the social setting, happiness in doing what your are supposed to do and what you like doing. Having provisions of life sustaining nutrients etc.
