There IS Still Hope For The Kid In All Of Us….

I’m a movie buff. I like movies of all kinds.

I often notice scenes that are relevant to the work we’re doing with business builders here at ThePerfectBizFinder.

I saw this one recently, really enjoyed it and thought you’d be encouraged and motivated by it.

By now it’s pretty clear to you how important it is in terms of the experience of success that’s really possible for you that you do what you’re really passionate about doing.

But that’s not what most of you have been taught, is it?

For all the right reasons most have been taught to pursue success along linear path that, by definition, requires you to defer and compromise what you’re passionate about and instead do what makes the most money…

Or, Provides the most security…

Or, offers the best benefits…

Along this linear path you compromise your true interests and passions and eventually bury them beneath a mountain of “shoulds” and “shouldn’ts”, “can’ts, won’ts and don’ts” and so forth.

In many cases you get so tied up and involved in traveling this road that you lose touch all together with what you really always wanted to do…what really matters to you…where THE REAL experience of success is found.

In fact we now have an entire generation of people who find themselves awakening to a stark truth that after deferring and compromising for 30 to 40 years the promise of prosperity on that path turned out to be a myth.

I’m calling it ‘The B-Myth’ for all the baby-boomers who are already arriving at this challenging transition. (I’ll be announcing a new web site real soon =0) )

Add the recent economic downturn and double digit under-employment and things can appear bleak.

Even if you make money…even a lot of money…if it is not by doing something you love…I promise you, you will not experience the success you seek.

This can be a bigger challenge than it sounds.

But you don’t have to struggle with this!

that message is so true if we don’t seek or pursue a future we are interested in or passionate about true success will not amount. I think its important for us to remember this message and ensure what we are doing is in line with what we want

Hi Steve
what I have seen in a movie is amazing. What I have understodd about it is that we, adults, divide ourselves into two parts at least. The first part is when we are children, the other part begins when we become adults, serious ones. We \find our way\ and pretend to be happy. It seemed to me, that no one of those serious people were happy as they had forgotten their dreams.
I am grateful for the movie, Steve. Your program is amazing (I have finished it in summer time and it was extremely exciting time.
Thanks. Wish you great success.

there is a dispute about Michael Angelo.
most people agree that he was very young when he worked on the Cistine Chapel.
Whether he was 74 or 78 when he started work on the Basilica seems to be in dispute. He did work there for a number of years.

AS a child i wanted to become a nurse, to take care of others as I wanted to be taken care of. Through my life i have taken care of others, through teaching children and adults, eventually I realised that to show others how to take care of themselves was far more rewarding. We can live our childhood dreams but often in a way that we did not know as children. The person who wants to dance can learn to dance with laughter and loved and maybe with paint, if they physically unable to dance.
I have tried through most of my life never to stay working at something that does not gladden my hear and bring me Joy also.
Thank you for the clip. We can be the child, the teenager and the adult whenever we choose to because all of them are us. Thank you

sill don't know

As a child I had NO idea “what I wanted to be when I grow up” except to have the security of belonging somewhere (we moved every 18 to 30 months, but on my own, I’ve stayed in the bay area since the quake of ’89).
Others, however, were ready and eager to predict my future: at age 4or 5 I asked “Is a hiccup a triangle? It hurts.”  Our next door neighbours were quick to predict my future: the FDA official that I would be a lawyer, the congressman that I would be a scientist.
I remain overly analytical, and have always wanted to “find my passion” Instead, I have made most of my decisions based upon avoiding what I *didn’t* want– to deal with, to compromise on, to live with… you get the idea.
I’m more focused on happiness & satisfaction/enjoyment/quality of life than on my income right now and still in search of my life’s passion.
I would like to act more on my creative urges, write stories, make “art”, that sort of thing, but I haven’t much talent and that overly analytical nature and a life time of dealing with hypercritical parents and “significant others” has a very inhibiting effect.  I signed up with Jason Garcia (Motivation 123) to get help with my procrastination/fear of failure and was led by his site to yours.  I admire the work you do, enjoyed the film clip and appreciated the insightful comments your audience left.
Best wishes  & happy Holidays  to all!

When I was a kid I wanted to be heard.  I wanted to be respected.  I wanted help with things I didn’t understand. I wanted to know not to be scared.  I wanted to feel like I belonged.  I don’t know what I wanted to be really, just wanted some solid ground.  I wanted someone to take me fishing and let me talk to them.  I wanted to be able to ask questions and have someone help me understand the answers.  I wanted to know what was wrong with me.  Sorry.  I just wanted a friend.I wanted to be a knight : ) and rescue the pretty girl : )  I wanted to be born in a time when I could fight with a sword : ) hmmm. That was an emotional clip.  I guess I have never though about what I wanted back then.  I was trying to survive.

Hi Dale: What I hear is that you might not have known WHAT you wanted to be, but you certainly knew HOW you wanted to be and HOW you wanted your life to be. Maybe that’s a key for you. You can still have those dreams become reality. It’s not too late.

Hi Steve. Mr Deed spoke the truth, like children or alcoholics do, as we say in Sweden. But you could monetize your passion, right. You could have both money and passion.

I know you dont give up,  until I purchase the perfect bizfinder,( if you haven´t lost faith in me.) I will wait till the right time comes for me,  so I can complete it. I know you are a genius and I value our friendship.

Hi Steve,
As you can see from the page Who am I on the website we are heading in exactly in the same direction.
I applaud the clarity you are bringing to the business, etc. world with your approach. Failure brings so much unhappiness and devastation.
Knowing who you are brings so much joy and fulfilment and make for a much better family and social life.
It is my prayer that I will be able to do in the Christian world waht you are doing in the business world.
Bless you and your efforts.

Hi Steve,
As a member of PBF I thoroughly enjoyed the clip, and as Adam Sandler quoted, we do compromise over and over again, to gain what is importent to us at the time, to put bread on the table and raise our children. As a child my dream was to own a large cattle property here in Australia which because of the above I never achieved, but I don’t regret the accomplishments, and values learnt from my mistakes. I also believe we are all endowed with a special gift, and if one/or parents reconize that gift and persue it then we will have real success, and most will be doing something they love and are passionate about, customarily wealth will follow if done in an honest and ethical manner. I have known my gift since my teens but have not passionatly persued it until about 2 years ago and have reunited with the Kid within and commited to succed. I am 67 so it goes to show we are never to old to reunite with ones chilhood gift or dream. Kind regards, Ian

Wow, on one hand its like we sell our souls in order to buy the world, with all its pride and riches and immediate gratification; and/or we get caught up in our doubts and fears and are just surviving in some ways, never quite reaching our potential,  ”living lives of quiet desperation,” and that little kid inside of us is the innocent voice of our conscience telling us that we were meant for more than this, and that one person can make a difference to many others……………….

Steve,
I loved the video. Iremember that I wanted to be a wife and mother. The wife part didn’t work out and the kids are grown. I wish along the way I had paid attention to the things that I personally was interested in, because now that I have the time for pursuit I’ve forgotten. I spent all my time making a living that I never made any money. I have found that the teachers and guru’s that sell the sizzle and that I relate to are not the ones bringing the steak to the table. I would love the opportunity to follow you around and be in your mastermind group because I can not learn from a home study course. I am trainable and I have a lot of life experience just noone of like mind to learn from.
Keep up the good work and thanks for taking a stand for what is possible in my life.

I love my inner child within.  When I was 2 I wanted to be a builder.  Today i am 23 and I worked as a blocklayer for over 5 years. now i am currently doing civil engineering in college and will always hold onto my belief as a builder since i was 2.  scientists say that when you are 2 50% of what you ever believe in will happen, at 6 , 60% and at 8, 80% of what you ever believe in will happen.  I always stay truthful to my childhood dreams.  thanks for that video.

Reply

Hi Shelia,

I can’t find it for you…but I will show you how to find it for yourself in ThePerfectBizFinder Program.

It is NOT too late for you to be a dancer. I am on the board of a bay area ballet company and our principle instructor was the principle dancer for the San Francisco Ballet Co for nearly 20 years, and started at the age of 38!

That means she was dancing professionally for one of the top ballet companies in the world at the age of 58.

You CAN dance. The only thing keep you from following your dream is the belief that you can’t.

Steve,
I can not remember what I wanted to be as a kid. I never have concentrated  on this thought.  I usually think about the tasks which I wish to accomplish (more than I can do alone)  but the requirement for income is always foremost if the learning and the doing is to follow.  One of my loves is photography.  I quickly learned that unless the photography created cash flow I could only do a limited amount of it.  Digital photography has made the learning and the doing easier but it requires cash to enable others to enjoy the results.  I also love flying but that could not be accommodated only if the flying produced the income to pay for the aviation expenses.  Otherwise,  my family would suffer for my pleasure.   Every day I visit the airport, I see  airplanes that are not being flown because the owners are either too busy working to earn a living without earning enough money to afford “pleasure”  flying or their work does not give them enough leisure to enjoy the airplane (other than owing one).  Whatever else I attempt, my labor for someone who uses my services must support the  enjoyments. Fortunately, I have been able to marry my work and my pleasures so I can say  “I love going to work each day even with it’s difficulties.”.  Thanks for the reminder that work can also be play.

Greetings Steve,
Excellent choice for a video clip.  I completed the Perfect Business Finder course this week.  Because of your course, I am already aware of my childhood desires, and how important they are to me in finding my perfect business.   A good chunk of my life has been spent, and I have pitiful little material wealth to show for it.  But you guided me into discovering that inner child, and turning that passion into something that I can live off, at the same time fulfilling my desire to help other people at the same time.   Now it is time to materialize what is in my mind.  And learn to dance in the rain!  Best, David

Hi There Steve,
Well it was an interesting clip. I remember quite frankly that I did not know what I wanted to be when I grew up certainly at 11  years old. I remember on going from a primary to a secondary school and going top an interview for a secondary grammar school. Having no idea what I wanted to be. My mother chastised me afterwards for lacking in imagination(I believe I should have said a train driver or fighter pilot ?)
Soon after, I took interest in the sea by joining the local Sea Scouts and from there after 5 years I joined the Merchant Navy for another 11 years.

As for schooling, I obtained a position in a Secondary Modern & Technical School and for 2 years was streamlined Academic. Then, I was accepted in a new Comprehensive School (Closer to a Grammar School) Initially re-streamed Technical,  I was advanced slowly again to Academic streaming. Then off to Nautical College for a years pre-sea training.
So, I was A slow starter, gained interest in a career and obtained a profession.
I hope this provides an interesting comparison for you Steve.
Good Wishes to One & All !  = Roy

Hello Steve,
I too have NEVER lost the kid in me and have always pursued my dream of helping people grow as individuals through encouragement and different techniques suited to each individual.  I have yet to overcome my own challenges of marketing my passion to make a decent living from it…I’ve been working on my “coming from lack” syndrome for many many years.  This is a tough stronghold for me but progress is being made to it’s elimination.  When I prove myself to me, watch out world!  Anyone relate?

Actually again a great challenge..not to forget who we really are before our circumstances changed our desires and moulded our lives. Not to say that we are the author of our lives and somehow forget to follow that inward child-like voice.
Thanks for sharing, Steve.

Indeed, Steve . . . there is yet hope in all of us.  Interesting to consider the wisdom inherent to reclaiming our child-like innocence, thinking and aspirations.  There are benefits to reconnecting with motivations and inspiration that were long ago forfeit to cultural conditioning that led us to ’adult’ thinking and attitudes.  Inasmuch, the ‘child within’ could prove wise beyond our years.  For this reason, many would do well to visit their inner child periodically.

Hi Steve,
This was a very interesting movie. Actually when I was a child I wanted to be a nurse, and all my playmates would lie on the ground or wherever and I was attending to them. While still in childhood, through an injury, I had to go to hospital almost everyday to get an injection,
I hated the smell of the hospital and especially these awful nurses sticking a needle in my arms.
So I gave up the idea of becoming a nurse. Oddly I am still trying to figure out what I want to be – can you imagine that!!

That’s definitely a reminder many of us need.  I wanted to be an Engineer, but that type no longer exists. The closest I can come is designing websites for a pair of businesses, I’m going to run. Not what I planned, but might help fund my dreams. Got to start somewhere, even 60 YO near paraplegics have dreams. :-)

Hi Steve,

I took your basic course maybe 2 years ago, and it was very good, it gave me some insight into what I could make a go at.  However, my life has changed somewhat since then with the cancer of my eldets daughter and all that she went through.  One of the areas was medical, now I am no nurse but I do like to write and have prlenty to say about that terrible sickness and I would do all of the research I need to do to put up a website, this may have come at the right time to change my mind, even if I don’t make a whole lot of money doing this kind of work.

Yes, I believe your team is great, sometimes the expense is just too much to handle though.

I wanted to be a choreographer and it played itself out by me helping people get their lives on track in therapy so i did what was important to me to make a difference. And now I am 61 and need to think of money  to support myself , Its an interesting world.

Hi Steve…i enjoyed the movie clip…it was wonderful. When i was a kid i wanted to be a teacher…ite seemed like a dream out of my reach in childhood. However, i did become a teacher…but not because i was following a forgotten dream…but because the teachers of my children recognised my natural abilities and sent away for an application for admittance to the College of Education. Teaching is still my passion, but i want to take it to the next level…worldwide. I have found that the Integrated approach that i favour is in demand…and not just in the field of education, but in every area of planning, implementation, resourcing etc…and so beneficial for everyone. I am just a little unsure of how to go about it.
My thanks to you Steve:)

I’ve always loved that movie and it’s relevant message of following our bliss. Money should never be our primary goal. The goal should be to remember what that little kid inside of us is saying or in other words, find your  hearts desire. When we do what we love the money will follow and we can then create successful profitable enterprises. Thanks for the reminder Steve!
