Instrument Extraordinaire

Every time you think “it can’t be done” or “it’s too hard”, revisit this page.

Whether a bizarre real world instrument or amazing computer animation of some type, I have no idea how difficult this would have been to do nor how long it may have taken.

I just know it’s downright amazing. Enjoy!

Do you think it’s real?

Can you imagine how difficult it would be?

Do you like getting a this kind of thing occasionally or would you rather I stay ’strictly business’?

I don’t know about you but it really astonished me.

Let me know what you think by commenting below.

I’m standing for all (the art & music) that’s possible for you in life and business.

Sincerely

Steve

  1. Snopes says it is computer generated animation.  But it is still remarkable!

  2. My 5 year old daughter said… “Oh it’s a music factory…”

  3. It sounds great!. This is an example of  the wonderful things imagination can do.Thanks for all the wonderful videos and tips you have sent me.

  4. This is simply amazing! Yes, it is computer generated but I am blown away by the precision and timing of the balls-sound effects. Wow!!!

  5. I know this very well, I did’nt even have to play the vidio to hear the music. It’s from Anamusic a colection of large format DVD’s. Iunderstand that most are thesis’s for docterates.

  6. That was 3.25mins of absolute brilliance, it looks as if some technical person got all his marbles and machinery together, just like building Lego. It was fantastic.

  7. It was a great start to a Saturday morning w/3 sick kids!! Thanks, I needed that!!

  8. Brilliant… even if it is computer generated, the idea had to be conceived and the program written. The mind can, indeed, be a wonderful thing.

  9. It is animated, but still worth enjoying. Don’t be afraid to “step outside the box,” it’s part of branding yourself. What makes you worthwhile, is the seeing you, as a real person, not just a “business guru.” Being different isn’t bad, as long as it’s the real you. All of the really good “guru’s” are a little “different,” and aren’t afraid to admit it. It help to see them as real people, and makes them more credible. Many wannabe’s are just “get rich quick” types, and quickly flame out on credibility. You’re on my list of keep getting, as opposed to kick em off for lack of usefulness.

  10. If you can think it, the computer can do it! Thank you for this entertaining interlude Steve. YES, I thoroughly enjoyed this and look forward to more from you!

  11. hey.. that is awesome! of ocurse its comp generated and who cares? so very creative! and you say ‘imagination’? where do all things begin? from imagination of course? without imagination there would be no art; without art there would be no techology, etc; without technology there would be no moving parts of any description in our world!!! how stale, boring, colorless and immovable would that be? and you wouldnt have been able to share this unique piece of “art” with all of us!!! you got thumbs up from me… when you find it, send it! thanks :o )

  12. Thank you for the video.  It was the perfect sign I needed this morning. Who cares if it is computer generated its great tune.  It still takes creativity to another unique level.Thank you again for the inspiration.

  13. My nephew said it is amazing but he does not believe that it is real. He said he will believe it when he can see in a live concert in our country.

Posted By: Rosa Muziotti | 10:32 am
  14. Wow, that was great. I do not care if it was real or not. it put a smile on my face. It also did something even more important to me and that is, it made me think!! What a wonderful imagination. I beleive that is what makes the world go round. Thank you and keep them coming.

  15. I love computer generated art and this was a thing of beauty. The pure creativity of it blew me away. As an entrepreneur, I believe it is important to find ways to express our creativity which ultimate leads to joy and passion in the things we do which actually improves our productivity. As the saying goes, “when you do what you love you never have to work a day in your life”

Keep them coming Steve. I loved it!

  16. I think it’s amazing what some folks can do when given the freedom to be all they can be.  Free in a sense of time and thinking.  From a blogging perspective – it’s amazing how many comments you get when you write about the human side of life.  Polarizing comments and fascinating items likes this music machine strike a cord (just being punny) with us all. Thanks for all the great business insight – here’s to pushing the free line.

  17. This video is computer animatation called “AniMusic” – and yes,  it is very complex to synchronize and to render.  My familiarity derives from programs that have aired on Public Television by the same name.  Fascinating.  As for me Steve, foray into artistic expression is fine and potentially edifying.  Determining subjects of general interest may be  to tread a fine line however.  Thanks for sharing.

  18. Undoubtedly computer-generated, but so what? It could actually be built. If you can see it, you can do it! I wouldn’t want the bill for building the prototype, though! A fun prelude to a football game I’ll be watching in about an hour.

Posted By: Mike | 11:27 am
  19. WOW!!! Thank you so much for sharing,I will do the same.

  20. To my mind that’s as real as it gets.  Thanks for sharing.

Posted By: Leila | 11:31 am
  21. I have seen this before, but it still stays a masterpiece of imagination, co-ordination and brilliance. This is a good representation of “What the mind can conceive and beleive it can achieve”Way to go Steve! Keep ‘em comin’!

  22. Hi Steve,Amazing to say the least, whoever had the imagination to put this together is a downright genius, thanks Steve, I’ll come back to this  quite often.

  23. Please thank your dad for sending it to you and to all of us. That was neat. Music like art can come from anywhere even when it doesn’t seem like it. Doesn’t matter if it’s computer generated, just stuff like ping pong balls and something that makes noise and it’s all music. Just like a drippy popsicle and a sidewalk can be modern art.

  24. Is it real? Well, define real. However, that’s not the question we should be asking, and based on the other responses, I would say that everyone here “gets” that. Being an entrepreneur requires more than dealing with the hard and fast facts, technology and daily routine. It requires the ability to be creative and to see potential where others don’t. That ability has shown up in abundance in these comments. Thanks for sharing it. A bit of the fanciful to enlighten our day.

  25. What impressed me most is how amazing the human mind is and how many incredibly wonderful things we can create when we want to. We are really wonderful beings. You and me, lets get even closer and keep using our minds to create more of these wonderful and inspiring ideas!

  27. I spend a lot of time in front of my computer analyzing a LOT of things.Every now and then, my focus needs swiched. This was a very good use of 2.5 mins.

  28. Awesome – did a search and it is computer animation, but what incredible skill! Check out http://www.animusic.com for more info on the company – extremely talented people! And Steve, I love all your emails, but this one was a welcome break from the ‘old routine’!

  33. I had arrived at the concusion that this artistry and music must have been computer generated even before I read the contributions of those who preceded me.  I take my hat off to the person or persons who produced this.  Thanks to to you and your Dad for sharing this.  By all means keep them coming as you receive them.

  38. Hi, This is available at Animusic.com and they have I think 4 -5 DVDs out now.  My daughter’s fave is  the  Starship Groove download (we have dvd)  which actually reminds me of  seeing Genesis in concert at madison square gardens back in the 80s.  They also have PBS special and get paid lots of money for doing their magic for soundtracks and corporate presentations and there is a waiting list to get them.   So…  nice that you found this but it is a real business, real proprietary software and real creative work of guys that have moved out of the garage stage of their business.  and NOT urban legend or just horsing around.   Go take a look at their site.  Pretty interesting story.      Patricia   SingleMotherMafia

  42. Almost obvious it’s computer generated. Do agree with those who  say “So what?”Isn’t it the provement that man’s mind is a genious one. It is THE MIND of THE MAN.Of each of us in potential, actually.

  48. This is the information that was attached to the original copy of this video that I received some time ago.  Fact or Fiction? This incredible machine was built as a collaborative          effort between the  Robert M. Trammell Music Conservatory and the Sharon  Wick School of Engineering at the  University of Iowa .. Amazingly,          97% of  the machines components came from John Deere Industries and Irrigation Equipment of Bancroft ,  Iowa ….Yes, farm equipment!   It took the team a combined 13,029 hours of          set-up, alignment,  calibration, and tuning before filming this video but as you can see it  was WELL worth the effort.   It is now on display in the Matthew Gerhard Alumni          Hall at the University  and is already slated to be donated to the  Smithsonian.

Trammell Music Conservatory and theSharon Wick School of Engineering at the University of Iowa.
